Urgent question:
Trying to help out a friend here..... he is a CHL holder and making plans to go on a Big Bend trip on his motorcycle. He is wanting information about concealed carry inside the park.
Tips, advice ? What say you all ?
WOuld he be safe unloading and tucking it away in the tour pak ?
Thanks !

State Park or Nat'l Park? (as I recal there is two).
If the state park ONLY, then he is OK, per Texas law.
If he is going to the Nat'l park, which I would presume he is, then carry is not allowed.

"Big Bend National Park"...
Kinda stinks if you ask me...I haven't been there since I was a kid...
And at the time I was not sure if my Dad carried anyway on those trips...I didn't ask or assume anything with him in that regard at that time...

I went to the Nat'l park (the REAL Big Bend) a couple of years ago and it was a very neat place.

If you're going to go that far...
A trip up the river road towards Presido, Ruidosa and Candalaria has some really neat things to watch for up that way...
If any of y'all ever get up to Candalaria, you're a champ in my book...And don't forget to make sure you do it in a 4x4 with plenty of gas to get in and out...You'll know what I mean if you get there...

If you are carrying and go in a National Park, can you put your weapon in a lock box in your car and go in? Or do you have to declare it?
Thanks,
Jim

Like Jim say's, I called several years ago and they said to secure it in the vehicle untill you leave the park, you might check in case the policy has changed.

I'm not a lawyer and I don't play one on the internet but....unloaded gun in locked container with ammo in seperate locked container is Fed legal in all states. I seem to recall Bush 41 having something to do with that getting passed.
Please check first!
