Not a poster boy for CHL

The news item says the arrestee "does have a license to carry a weapon".
Short version: guy gets fired for carrying a handgun while in a company car. Gets distraught, apparently gives himself a really bad haircut and doodles a cross on his chest, and shows up at a TV station demanding to speak with a reporter. He was not armed while in the station, but had a loaded AR and loaded pistol in his SUV.
The arrest was for threatening the receptionist.

Does he forget that he's in Texas?
Most everyone I know has a rifle or shotgun in thier personal vehicle.

I carry an AR-15 to work everyday and my employer has never given me a problem.

Found out through the wife

The medical office where my wife works has a constant stream of drug reps. One of them pointed the news story out to her and told her this guy worked for his company. I'll withhold the companies name. I'm not going to go there.
But, as crazy as the guy is, he didn't bring his guns in the station. Something must be said for that. He's crazier than Hillary Clinton, but I don't know that he went too far into breaking laws. Should he have his CHL revoked, any good shrink would say yes.
For this incident, he needs help, not jail IMHO.
My posting of this story earlier on PDO started a good thread. Funny replies.

"Inside his rented SUV, police found an assault rifle and a semi-automatic pistol. The assault rifle was loaded with a high-powered scope. They also found a handgun with a full clip of bullets."
Someone needs to educate somone on the meanings of "high powered" and "assault rifle" I would be willing to bet that the "assault rifle" was not full automatic and that the handgun did not take clips.

I have tried a few times to educate folks along those lines. Usually it is not productive. Some of them do not want to learn because they do not care about "details" like those. Others listen politely and then brand you "just another gun nut". That does not mean that we should not keep trying. I would like to think that my efforts have made some difference in the accuracy of the reporting at my shop. At least now they sometimes come and ask me to explain it before they write about it.

I feel "highly powered" when I carry my "assault rifle"...

It's the M-1 Garand handgun variant. It's an M-1 with a pistol grip and a 5" barrel.
