I had time to kill in the grocery store so I thought I would grab some #4 .410 shells and 12 ga buckshot for my newly acquired Defender (both Remignton Express). They probably move quite a bit of 12 & 20 ga birdshot in the fall but I don't think either of my purchases are big movers, I wanted them so I didn't pay attention to the price until I got home. The box of .410 had three layers of price tags, up to $13.99 from $8.69 (couldn't read the middle layer). 2 3/4" 12 ga 0 Buck box of 5 had the original sticker of $2.99. After checking prices online this evening I think I'll go back tomorrow and get some more.

If i still owned a .410 I would buy a reloader before i paid 50 cents or more per shot

Living near Houston, what impressed me about the OP was the idea of a grocery store selling ammunition, even shotgun!

I recall my Dad telling me about being able to buy individual shells from a box in the small community store back home.

Now the idea of a grocery store selling ammo has become completely foreign to me.

Side note: Realizing that I had lived almost 60 years without owning a .410, I bought a single shot just for the heck of it.

Being very familiar with the price of 12ga and 20ga shells, I wasn't ready for the sticker shock when I priced .410 shells.

living in the sticks definately has it's advantages
