I bought a kydex holster at the Pasadena gun show about a year ago. Thought the name was Top Gun Gear but am getting nothing on it. Believe the seller was named Nu. Any help from the bay area appreciated.

Could it have been Hoffners?

Nope! Not Nu. Not Hoffner either. Brian Hoffner has a website and is still going strong.

If it's the guy I'm thinking of, his last name was Ng (pronounced "ing"), but I'm not 100% sure of his first name. I'm thinking it might have been Brian Ng. A friend told me that Ng used to to have some kind of a business relationship with Comptac and he soon after became a competitor, if you know what I mean. I'm glad I didn't buy anything from him before doing some checking.

I'm sorry, but if it's the guy I'm thinking of, he may or may not be in business and/or stand behind his product if you need warranty work.

Personally, I have heard nothing but Good about Comptac. Brian Hoffner is good too. I have made three purchases from the Comptac website and I'm happy with everything I bought. I have also bought from Hoffner and like his products as well. I know money is always a factor, but my best purchased came from these two companies.

Thanks guys. Hoffners I have bought from also. Have a holster & 2 mag carriers from him also. ShootingStar I remembered as I read your post. It was Brian Ng. Don't need any warenty. His stuff is good too. I was asked about the holster & could not remember the company name. No big deal if this turns up a wash. I just hate it when I can't remember something I should. :mad5 Will do a search by his name & see. If nothing, then thanks for digging in your memory. Have a great evening in print.

Well, here is the empty circle. Brian Ng web site was isamerica.us. It is an incomplete page that only says the Grand Opening will be soon. It referrs you to the TopGunGear.com site that comes up "cannot find server." Guess they are out of business. Thanks guy, you helped solve my memory trouble. By the way, do either of you know if Hoffner's has anything in stock. I would like to look at & try one of his IWB's w/ the leather snaps. I would like to wear it for a while though. Live close enough to make that a day off trip.

LT,

I was going to offer you some suggestions on how to improve your memory, but I can't remember what I was going to say.

I was at the Top Gun Range a couple of weeks ago and the had some Hoffners and Comp Tacs in stock. You might give them a call to see if they have what you are looking for if you are going to be in that area.

Hey Longtooth,

I bought my first IWB from Hoffner and it was the best one I have ever had. The leather was soft which is what made it so comfortable. After the snap on it broke, I bought a shirt tucker from him and it was made of very stiff leather. Not nearly as comfortable when carrying it on the left front in almost a cross draw configuration. It worked fine though. I used it until it wore out. Now, I have a CompTac C-Tac and like it pretty well. It has replaceable belt clips that have a very small hook so they're not as noticable when carrying shirt tucker style.

Brian Hoffner usually sets up a table at the Space City Challenge match at PSC in Friendswood which is in April. Get on his website and get his number. When I use leather, I like his for the price/quality balance.
