I would have thought there would be more then 240,816 holders in the state. Seems a little low with as many people that we have in Texas.

Yep, Warehorse, the 241,000 is small compared to the population. But, it takes time, money and motivation. Getting all three together at the same time is tough for lots of folks ...
I did notice the sidebar in the internet version of the article ain't quite right on some of the latter "prohibited locations".

This was my experience. Time and motivation were not a factor. Money was the issue. Each time the monsy was set aside to send off my application, something else came along that was deemed more important at the time. To be fair, I was the one who made the call about what was more important. My wife never once tried to pressure me into using the money in other ways.

I know money was an issue for me. $250 is a good chunk of change. The other thing was understanding the process. Getting your paperwork before going to the class is important. I spent a little time getting familiure with the shooting test too. Not that I had any problems with passing, but I wasn't sure how difficult it would be.
I remember seeing an article last year...

talking about a celebration in Arizona (or some State, maybe Utah) and its Concealed Carry law...
They made a big to do about it and it seemed that everyone enjoyed the party...
I'm sure everyone who attended packed to the event as well...
I'm kinda wondering why we have not seen or heard of any similar event in Texas???
I'd go...

There was some discussion of this at the meeting of the Texas Concealed Handgun Association in Waco last week. Hopefully, something may be put together soon, perhaps in conjunction with some of the other organizations out there. Its a good idea!
