New 30.06 at Dallas SPCA

I am currently looking for a dog so I thought that the best place to start would be the SPCA here in Dallas. I have visited this location multiple times in the last two years and they have never had any sort of anti-gun postings. Anyway this is what is there now it looks like a real 30.06 but I'm not positive. Even though they are posted I don't think I will stop going there because it's not the dogs fault that management is misinformed.

It looks like they did their homework.

Some (not all my any stretch) animal shelters take their marching orders from anti-hunting groups like PETA and HSUS.

You might try the county or city pound. By definition, they are not allowed to post.

Are those letter 1 inch? All of them?

Here is one of those places where the law needs to be clarified - The way the law reads to me, ALL of the letters need to be one inch in height.

Of course they have also added lettering beyond that required by the law, which I also think should be codified as improper - the signs should read one way and one way only, no additions, subtractions, or modifications.

I also think the colors of the signs and letter should be established beyond doubt.

And if they want to keep knives and pepper spray out, then make them post separate signs that relate to that purpose.

You're correct that if they want to ban all weapons, they need to post that way for legal knives, pepper spray, and Tazers.

You're never going to win on letter size, color, improper accent marks on the Spanish version, etc.

Yeah, but I can hope anyway.

I would notify them that they lost your "business" and ask for their reasoning. I would bet that it doesn't meet the size requirements of the law, but it is close enough that I would probably abide by their wishes and take my money elsewhere.

I doubt that; most animal "shelters" are really just murder mills. They are real quick to euthanize and don't really try very hard to adopt the animals out. They actually get more money from euthanizing the animals than from adopting them out.

How do I know this, you ask? My wife has done a lot of research on it. RKBA is my issue, pet overpopulation and rescue is hers.

When people take their "beloved pets" to the shelter because of some stupid reason like they're moving and don't want to be bothered, they are in most cases pronouncing a death sentence on Fido.

I went to their website to email them and let them know that I, and many others like me, would no longer frequent their organization. However, their web form limits email to them to 255 characters.

SPCA is a no kill shelter I believe.
I told the SPCA to screw off years ago when they wanted over $250 to adopt a puppy. I went to a local pound found a 1 month old puppy and took him home for $70 including all his shots and a voucher to get him fixed.
The SPCA is a group of thugs with huge ego problems, just like Operation Kindness. They care soo much about animals they have forgotten the human aspect of pet ownership.
Operation Kindness is another group I will never give any money. A rude lady(i loosely use this term) Told my daughter who was 4 at the time that she was incompetent and didn't deserve to have a dog because she is to young to care for it. This is when I lost it and told the trogladite exactly what I thought of her and the organization she represented. My GF had to pull me by the arm to get me to leave as I flushed my potty mouth non stop on the lady.

SPCA is most definitely not a no-kill shelter. CAP is, however.

We found both of our current dogs wandering loose on the road (at different times). We also have a bunch of cats around that my wife TNRed (trap, neuter, release). Some of them tamed and moved inside.

Btw, I have a (about) three year old Rhodesian Ridgeback that is looking for a good home - she is pretty much a one dog household dog and we have too many. She wants to be the alpha and that isn't happening. She is a good dog and fairly well behaved.

If we hadn't gotten a couple of police wash out labs last winter, I would take you up on that offer.
