I will be going fishing in Galveston in a couple of weeks. I think we will taking one of the 5hr charters. I need to know if I can carry while on the boat.
Thank you

If the vessel master says no weapons then you can't legally carry.

They would have to notify you via 30.06 that you can't carry. I've never heard of anyone doing this. It's possible that they could tell you in their safety speech when you first board that guns are not allowed, but I believe that's extremely unlikely.
Keep it concealed and you should be OK.

The boat I took out of Port Aransas a few weeks ago had a sign on the dock saying "no unlicensed carry.... Yadada yadada yadada..."

I carried a 642 in a Nemesis pocket holster, but I was too sea-sick to shoot anything. :banghead:

I had a buddy of mine go fishing last weekend - he came back with some red snapper and kingfish - boy, they were good on the grill! Unfortunately, he became extremely sea-sick (great pictures of him...lol). I would love to go however, I would most likely be sick as well!

That probably falls under admiralty law. I think what the captain says goes...

I have never been on fishing boat. I am worried that I may get sick myself but we will see.

If you are not sure about getting sick, take some Dramamine or other medicine before going. You will have a grueling day if you get sea sick.

isn't it easier to fish with a rod and reel? seems like it would be hard to shoot the fish, unless with a shotgun.

+1
If you have never been on a fishing boat, or haven't been out for a while, definately get some Dramamine. Take one the night before you go and another one before you get on the boat, works like a charm. Nothing sucks worse than being sick for an entire fishing trip, because if you are going to get sick it is going to be right when you get out there and then you're stuck on the boat for several hours doing nothing but throwing up..

If you want to avoid seasickness without using drugs, just keep in mind what causes it. The motion of the boat confuses your inner ear, and you literally do not know up from down, and this confusion causes your body to complain. Stay on deck in the air, and always keep the horizon in sight so your inner ear is always oriented. It is difficult to see the horizon if you are hanging over the side. Nibble on a cracker, not heavy or oily foods. Keep busy. The absolutely worst thing you can do, if the boat is large enough, is to go below, close your eyes, and feel sorry for yourself.

Seasickness is a miserable condition, I do not mean to underplay it, but I have seen many a case where these basic rules result in a cure -- a long-term cure.

From personal experience: don't eat a fried egg sandwich on grilled bread from the ships galley...It does not taste nearly as good on the way back up.

Thanks for all of the valuable tips (and humor). My Boss is taking the crew out for the weekend. He goes on a very regular basis (3 times in the last 2 months).
I will say that I am very excited to go and I WILL be taking the proper meds.
......we need a "keep your fingers crossed" smilie......
