I found this particular part very interesting

Of course, there are no guarantees on police response or reaction. The sight of a badge will usually slow most cops down before they start shooting, so I encourage all legally empowered CCW Permit holders to seek out such badges. These badges must NEVER say "police" or "sheriff" on them. That's impersonating the police. That's illegal. Bad thing. However, in various handgun-oriented magazines I've seen advertisements for CCW Permit Holder badges. If you can get one, make sure it's prominently displayed as quickly as you can if the shooting starts.

From the article:

When was those "days", I must have slept thru them! I don't count on the goverment to provide meaningfull protection to myself or my family. If there was a time in the past where the goverment could provide personal protection; I must have missed it.

All the goverment can be counted on for is RESTRICTING my ability to defend my family! Well, once in a while you will get a good law passed, but we all know it is a FIGHT to just keep what we have in the original bil of RIGHTS.

I totally want a CHL badge, just to say I have one and to laugh about it.
I'd probably hang it up in my home office in one of those badge displayers.

Then again, I want one of those Raven Arms .25's just to say I own one, too. I'm goofy like that.

Not totally. He doesn't have a link on his website to someone who sells CCW badges.

Would be better to explain to an officer after the fact why you had a badge on during an active shooter scenario rather than take 3 in the chest because an officer mistook you for the active shooter

Just saying..in the heat of it all, a guy with a gun in an active shooter situation = shoot 1st ask questions later, or at the very least, draw, aim, order on the ground exposing the officer to the real threat that may not be present at the time

The writer of the article devoted most of it to discussing fundamental issues like:

• What to do with your family during an active shooter situation (stay with them or move away)
  Engage the bad guy or just protect you and yours
  A warrior perspective
  A predator mindset for combat
  What he believes "stop the threat" means in these situations
  Preplanning for coordinated action with family members
  Carry practices
  The value of martial arts
  Importance of a flashlight, etc.

I thought we'd get lots of lively discussion on these topics, but nobody picked up on any of them. Nothing. Nada. Zilch.

What was the focus of almost 100% of the responses so far? CCW badges - IMHO the least significant (though now proven most controversial) point raised.

I'm stunned, and still scratching my head over this. Help me out here, folks. How come?

First and foremost, it is absolutely unacceptable to get caught in public in need of a gun without one when you are legally empowered to carry one. SO... if you have a carry permnit, CARRY. Of course, by encouraging any CCW permit holders to carry I'm assuming that they are competent. More on that below, but for the purposes of this article, understand I'm assuming that all CCW permit holders USE IT.

I think the Posse Comitatus Act and the Insurrection Act would prevent a military response to most active shooter situations in the United States, so we need armed civilians who can respond decisively to save lives. The VT massacre is a prime example of what happens when government or other organizations disarm the good guys.
