I don't see anything in the article that mentions the skin color of the cop or the thieves.TDDude wrote:The Houston Cron headlines would then have read, "Racist Cop shoots African American suspects over New Sports Car. Women & Children Affected Most" and then we would have to put up with all the associated junk for the next 6 months.
Guilty. Busted. You are correct. Gotta watch what I say. The article does not mention race by either party and I was making assumptions. BUT, knowing what I know about the Houston Chronicle, if race isn't mentioned concerning the Bad Guys in a story, they are almost always black. Plus, the citizens in the 59/Lyons area are primarily black. I was going with the odds. I didn't mean to offend and sorry if I did. I was just stating a fact about how the dudes at the Houston Chron think and how a story would have been reported.boomerang wrote:I don't see anything in the article that mentions the skin color of the cop or the thieves.TDDude wrote:The Houston Cron headlines would then have read, "Racist Cop shoots African American suspects over New Sports Car. Anyway, by leaving the firearm and taser for the crooks, he had nothing to shoot them with.
That must be quite a luxury. I found out from a good friend that the deputies for the Comal County Sheriff's Office are not permitted to carry off-duty. His dad has to get a Texas CHL in order to carry a handgun off-duty. I find that very odd, considering that our Sheriff is a former DPS sergeant.TDDude wrote:Other than that, I was offering the scenario that the officer may have still been armed when he left his car. Most officers I know have a carry pistol and a duty pistol.

But then again, I'm sure our Sheriff has his reasons.
It could be a county thing that our Sheriff grudgingly complies with. I don't know for sure, though.lunchbox wrote:i thought they had to carry???

If the CCSO issues ID cards to their deputies, and the deputies are qualified, they can legally carry off duty even if the sheriff tells them not to.pedalman wrote:I found out from a good friend that the deputies for the Comal County Sheriff's Office are not permitted to carry off-duty.
