A friend is missing - NO LONGER! updated 8/12/08

Received a call from the husband of a friend of ours just a little while ago. She's missing. She went shopping last Friday (July 11th) at the PX on Fort Bliss, then left everything, including her IDs, locked in the vehicle. She was seen boarding a bus, probably city transit as they don't require ID, and hasn't been seen or heard from since.
Police can't do anything since security cameras show her getting on the bus of her own volition.
This family has been through a great deal of stress the last few years with issues I'm not free to discuss, and I'm afraid Cat's disappearance might be a reaction to all of that. Even if it's something else, it's yet another burden for her husband and family, and her husband is worried sick about her.
She wasn't on any kind of medication or drug that might have caused a bad reaction, or memory loss, as far as anyone knows.
Please pray that Cat is found alive and safe, and that whatever caused her (forced her?) to take off is resolved in God's grace.

Many thanks.
I spoke with Frogg (his name is Charles, but almost no-one calls him that) this evening after work. He says he's still in the "hopeful stage" right now, and is grateful for the prayers.
He promised to keep us informed if there's any news or updates.

Maybe she has decided to leave the husband?

Cat is a very open, frank person. If she seriously intended to leave Frogg, she would have said so to his face.
I was reminded by Frogg that Cat had a mini-stroke a couple years ago. It's entirely possible she had another that went unrecognized amid all the other stresses on the family lately, and is not thinking quite straight... especially considering that she left
everything, including her purse and all IDs behind.
Snide remarks aren't necessary. The family has been hurt enough.

Any chance the bus driver remembers where she got OFF the bus?

I did not mean that remark to be "snide" just a possibilty, sorry if u took that the wrong way.

quidni,
I don't think he meant it as a snide remark either; it's not uncommon for a woman to try to slip away quietly, especially if she has been battered. Since he doesn't know them (and neither do most of us here), he was probably just offering another possibility.
The fact that she has had a stroke makes this more complicated. Thank you for letting us know that; it guides our prayers for her.
Please keep us posted; I hope she's found soon and is safe.
Are you back home from the Brownsville area?

If I misunderstood his intent, I'm sorry. It's just that leaving that way is totally out of character for Cathy, and I'm worried about her... I'm probably over-sensitive on her behalf right now.
My unit hasn't been called yet - we're still on "alert - stand by" but haven't heard anything more definite at this point. As far away as we are, and considering that Dolly already seems to be "downshifting" it's looking likely that we won't be participating in the cleanup on this one.
Prayers are still appreciated for those who did get called in, and those folks directly affected by the storm.
I'll post if I hear any news about Cat. Many thanks for everyone's prayers in this situation.
