Inexpensive Targets

Two weeks ago at the PSC Range 2 I was putting some ammo boxes in the garbage can and noticed a treasure trove.
Some one had used a dozen Shoot-N-C target centers and thrown away the backing paper that contains four spare black centers.
I put those centers on paper plates and use them for bullseye targets.
I've been using paper plates for 30 years since the 9 inch plates approximate the vital zone an many four legged and most two legged animals.
So recycle, use all of those expensive targets including those little black replacement center circles.

Have you ever tried the little post-it notes? I stick them in several places on the target board and use them for bullseye targets. I use the NEON ones that ar in bright colors.

I just print out my own in black and white, probably cheaper than paper plates even if you take ink into account.

Get the cheapest paper plates you can find and a felt tip window marker. Once you hit the plate several times, color the holes with the marker and shoot again.

Repeat the process until there ain't no more paper plate.
Can't no cheaper than that...huh?

I was going to draw something in the "paint" program here on the ole compewter here, but that would have been silly...
I think these are pretty slick...
I sure do like the flourecent sticky post-its idea though...I think that would work for just about any range session for anyone...
Come to think of it...This would make a great addition for a sticky "link" on this website...
Just a thought...

Well, Thank you Steve. I was in Wally World roaming around the ofice supplys and got the idea. I bought the off brand (I think it was 3 bucks for 400) and put some in my range box. It has worked well so far, the only problem I can forsee with the sticky notes is a high wind, if that happens I will hit them once with my staple gun.
I don't know how to add this to the "sticky" section. I am new and don't think I have been to that part of the board. Please feel free to add it if you think it is worthy.

I like rolling my own also.
This is my
latest. More fun than standard targets but with the price of ink I don't really believe I'm saving money.
Caution: Contains political Content that might be offencive to sensitive eyes, 10 year olds and leftist. May also cause nausea and stomach churning to vast right wing conspiritist YMMV

For our church's annual mens meeting we meet at a deer lease so we can shoot skeet, and pistols. This year I took empty water bottles and filled them with red jello. After they were solid, they make GREAT visual targets.

I work at a place that plots alot of drawings so I take the old building plans and plotting mistakes to the range. I simply get the biggest felt marker I can find and draw something on the back of the plotter paper.
One set of old building plans can last for years.

Daddy & I bought a bunch at the gun show. I think it was less than printing them at home.

There are a couple folks on this board that use reclaimed cardboard, etc and their own stencils. I bought a roll of butcher paper at Sams' a few years ago. I use stencils on it that drawn from the B-27 target oval sections. I thnk I gave $19 for the hole roll of paper. I may have used a a few hundred feet of it, and haven't decreased the roll size by even 5%. I also use the cheapest Wally World paper plates. They are less than a penny a piece. There are a lot of simulations that can be done with folding, markers, etc.

I shoot IHMSA pistol silhouettes and for the 200 yard backdrop I have a 3' x 3' piece of cardboard I painted white. I paint paper plates black and staple one in the middle of the white backdrop. I can easily see the 7mm holes through my spotting scope. I bought a package of white 3/4" sticky circles at Walmart for the misses. It's lasted for quite a while.
