For recreational owners, that means fewer hunting trips and days at the shooting range.
Fewer hunting trips? Again, another story written by someone who learned about firearms from Mattel.

It's the $4.00 gas that will keep me from driving the hundreds of miles to wherever I'm going to hunt so yes, I'm taking fewer trips this year.

It's the $4.00 gas that I would say is a police force's biggest headache.

Defending lawsuits is probably a much bigger headache than both.

Ammo going up in price is probably not that big a deal in the grand scheme of the LEO budgetmasters.

I agree - might reduce the amount of time I squeeze the trigger at the shooting range, but for hunting - not a big deal. How many rounds does the average deer hunter fire per hunting trip? 2 shots? Once to confirm zero, and once to miss the buck of a lifetime?

Yeah, I saw that and thought: so what? This is news? The price of everything continues to rise.
