I have a S&W 6906 that is a little to heavy for hip carry...I want to try a sholder holster and not tie a bunch of money in one to see how it works. Are the nylon ones any good? I have seen them on eBay for ~$20 + $5.00 postage. Do you know of any place in the DFW area that carries them?

My experience is that the cheap ones are not comfortable AT ALL.

Get the galco lite version. Its under 100 bucks and has interchangeable components.

Ditto this! Don't buy a cheap one.

You may also find...that if the weapon seems too heavy when worn on the hip, that it will seem twice as heavy in a shoulder rig. This is from someone who has worn one for about 10 years. I wear a shoulder rig because of a shoulder injury that does not allow me to draw from behind the centerline of my hip. If I could, I would prefer to have it there. I think you will be disappointed if you buy ANY shoulder rig expecting it to be more comfortable than something on the hip.

I have tried quite a few shoulder rigs and dumped them all except two.

Galco Miami Classic and the Kramer HSR. Neither of these are cheap but when it comes to shoulder rigs you get what you pay for.
