I am considering joining the NRA and was wanting feedback on what are the benefits of me being in the NRA? I see that you get a magazine subscription and also a discount on certain things that look travel related.(rent cars ,hotel rooms, ect) Since I do not travel much and was just going to do the 1 year membership I am thinking twice on this. I see I get a "card" but it just does not seem worth it. I know they stand for our 2nd amendment rights but I was wanting to see if there is something more to this. I would appreciate all responses to help me decide whether this is a good idea or should I just spend my money on another box of bullets.

There are benifits, I think there is some gun insurance and some other stuff; but the real reason to join the NRA is it provides a way to support 2nd admendment rights on a state and national level. I don't allways agree with the NRA, but I would say I agree with them about 97% of the time (that is a better avarage than I have with my wife, and I LIVE with her--LOL). The point is, it affords us the opertunity to have a inpact on laws passed in all 50 states. The NRA is on the forefront of gun rights issues and are worthy of our support even without "aditional" benifits.

I was around in the 90's when we were being attacked on every hand. Every time there was a shooting in a public place, Bill Clinton would stand up and demand that handguns needed to be restricted. The NRA kept Sara Brady at bay (just barley). If you don't think it could happen reguardless of the 2nd admendment, look at what has happened to smokers, yes it is still legal to smoke but smokers have been demonized to the point that "avarage" people look down on them and demands they do it somewhere else. Now, if you are old enough, remember back and 20 years ago. That is how gun rights can be effected by "nutts" with a cause they believe in. Today, you can not keep someone from smoking, but you can make them VERY uncomfortable doing it, I know of people who didn't get a job because they smoked. The same thing could happen with guns if we don't have people like the NRA woring out in front of these issues defending not only our rights but how the non gun owning public views gun owners. Your $15 and adding your name to the long list of gun rights suporters will be a small way to make a difference in this country reguarding gun laws. It's a small price; a price we shouldn't have to pay, but a small price.

THe NRA is not there for your benefit on a $$$$s basis for what you get out of membership. Join.
The benefit is the support of a great work for our 2nd Amendment. You support them as they fight for our rights. Join.

They are the most effective lobby we have in Washington for our cause. Join.

Ask Not What the NRA Can Do For You, But What You Can Do For The NRA.
Join. Without the NRA you would not have a CHL.

Sadly, this is just what most of America's gun owners will do.

If not for the NRA, your right to own a firearm (and buy bullets) would be long gone by now.

There are approximately 4 million NRA members carrying the rest of America's 80 million gun owners on our backs!

So yeah, I'd appreciate it if you would chip in and help.

And you get to put a cool little "tagline" down in your profiles signature block...

I use that one to try and get free bowls of soup...Notice I said "try"...

I like the magazine that comes with the membership...It keeps me up on the O fficial position and other issues that we are addressing...

Also in that publication...We get to see a couple of good friends whose names we know around these parts, hanging around with other pretty cool folks as well...I would like to keep them part of that leadership group that continues to be very effective (with all of our support as well) in protecting our Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms...

Congratulations! You did the right thing and welcome aborad.
Now how about the TSRA... they fight for our rights here in Texas.

In a word, yes! It is not about the magazine or the trinkets, it is about the power of numbers. It is about ensuring our way of life as we would like to live it. Guaranteeing our continued vigilance of our rights. It is about supporting an organization that will look out for your best interest so that you and I will always be a "Citizen" and never a "subject". We are in a transitional moment where we must all take a stand. No sheep allowed. He who does not take a stand is part of the problem. I highly encourage you to join the NRA today, not because of what it can do for you, but for what all of us together can do to send the right message at a time when the message appears partly lost.
