Shots fired at Walmart Market 2275 Gus Thomasson Rd. Dallas. This just happened at 5:30pm today. I was loading up my groceries on my motorcycle up front by the entrance when a group African Americans started fist fighting by the door. A man with a lady had words with another group of ladies.First was yelling then two girls go at it and are on the ground fighting fast. The accomplices just watched until a lady with one of the girls on the ground pulls out a revolver & lets a round off in the air. She was talking trash and waving the gun around and cursing. She didn't appear to be a CHL holder. This was at the entrance & kids & parents were around. The two girls then jump into a ghetto g ride with a man driving & sped off. People around got the tags as they sped away. Do you guys think I did the right thing ? That is I did nothing . I had my kimber Ultra Carry 45 under my shirt. I just put my hand on it and was ready if she started to fire rounds at strangers. I never pulled it out , but was glad I had it if things got worse.I was 20 feet from these thugs with their pants falling off & looking like gang bangers. Forgive me if I sound like a jerk, but kids were all around scared & crying as this happened. I thought my Walmart Market was safe & in a family area. I hope these punks don't live in my area.

Sounds to me like you did the right thing. Just wait and be ready just in case.

:iagree: You did good. You were ready and prepared to take action if things escalated into something worse. As long as they were fighting among themselves and not attacking innocent bystanders. There are no safe places anymore. We must be ready and prepared at all times and every where we go.

I hope to god that was not a CHL holder! My instructor told us NEVER TO FIRE A WARNING SHOT IN THE AIR! I guess doing the "wally walk" is a good thing! :headscratch :fire :boxing

I think you did the right thing. It doesn't sound like they were threatening innocent people so I wouldn't get involved either. I would get plate numbers and call 911 afterward.

I agree that in the holster was the right place for your Ultra Carry under the circumstances.

Keep in mind that although the woman with the gun appeared to be interested only in the folks immediately around her, if she decided to shoot at them there would have been an excellent chance that errant rounds would have posed an extreme danger to bystanders.

My recommendation for your situation would be to move quickly to the nearest solid cover available and continue to assess the situation from there.

Talk about close to home. I grew up in that neighborhood. My Mom and sister both work in that Thrift store right next door although I believe they get weekends off. I do however agree that not pulling your weapon was the right course. That would have made the whole situation even worse and firmly believe that you would have been out gunned with weapons awhile lot more destructive that you want to meet.

You took the proper step of first assessing the crowd condition.

The cops would have took her down or, failing that, took her out at that point. But for you, as long as nothing was pointed in your direction, no big deal. The moment she leveled the weapon and commenced firing in a crowded public place, she's fair game. On the other hand, how do you know she is not justifiably acting in self defense and in defense of her loved ones? Perhaps best to stay out of it until you're irrevocably in it. When is that? I reckon it's up to you at the time. And later, the D.A. can second guess you on that. Since this was not a nut job randomly attacking, but a person with in identifiable motive, I'd venture you did absolutely the right thing by staying out of it. And just look at all the paperwork you saved the cops.

I absolutely agree that you did the right thing ... :thumbs2:

But I don't think you are accurate in saying you did nothing ...
You got prepared to the point you could under the circumstances ...
You were observing ...
You were keeping your cool pretty well ...
I can't think how you could have done better in that situation ...
Congratulations!
