I have been looking to buy a 94 in 30-30 but they are rare to find around here. My dad is wheelchair bound and doesn't shoot or hunt anymore and when I told him what I was looking for he asked me what his would be worth to me. His is in excellent shape. I hunted with it one time when I was a kid and and my son hunted with it one other time. Other than that it's been setting in it's case. He bought it new in the mid 1970's so it's not a pre-1964 model. Anybody know what they are worth? I know he would sell it to me cheap but I want to make him a fair offer.

Thanks,
Tim

Most I see walking around gun shows are $250 and up these days. I bought mine years ago for $140. Had it shortened to a trapper length after a season of toting it around east Texas piney woods. Now it's perfect for deep woods hunting.

I have an old beat to heck and back 1949-1950 (check the SN)

I plan on doing the unthinkable and making it a "militarized" version of it

Going to replace the beat up/pitted/cracked/scared wood with a synthetic black one, strip the metal and do the parkerizing treatment I did on my Ishapore Enfield), get one of the uncle mikes sling swivel kits for the mag tube, get a Williams Gun Sight adjustable peep sight, and a good hunting sling.

Do you think its sacreledge to do that to such an old rifle..even though its seen much much better days?

It depends. Is it the saddle ring version? Any engraving? Finish?

Nope...just a plain 94 that was built a long time ago and has been abused and neglected before I got ahold of her

I want to make her useful again instead of a hide in the back of the gun safe safequeen!
