I have two questions that you should consider answering, or not...

After reading this:

"Do you still believe it is wise to travel, taking all precautions, and following all legal procedures, to travel by commercial air with a firearm?"

or

"Do you think that a legislative solution to remove all risks of incorrect enforcement in situations like this should be inacted nationally, and should it be done immediately?"

My answers to both would be yes, and yes...

What happened to this man is completely rediculous.

Based on the news story, it would seem that the '86 FOPA should protect against this type of thing. I hope he wins and other airports across the country get the message.

The $3 million seems a bit conservative. I think $30 million would have sent a bigger message.

That is so messed up. I agree with DWS. They should be fined $30 million!

I have seen this one before. My answers to your questions would be yes and we already have it ('86 FOPA). The guilty parties (the LEO, municipality, etc.) should lose the suit and the plaintiff should never have to work another day in his life.

I have stated in the past that I think everyone who can, should pack a firearm with you to be checked in when you fly...

Even if you don't carry it for some reason at your destination, if it stays locked up and secure while you travel...No big deal...

The more some of these goofs (not all of them, just the ones who have a problem with it) see it, and learn from this fact that there are actual real live people that travel with this capability, the more in tune they are to understand their part in it, and get with the program...

Its a beautiful thing when it all works out, everyone's happy with the procedures, the effort everyone puts into the process, no voices are raised, no sensibilities are insulted, etc etc...

But that may be too much to fantasize about at this time...

I've never really had a problem flying with something like this...My hope is that no one I know here ever has a problem...

I tried that link and it doesnt work anymore, being from NJ and PA and flying back there often with my firearms I am very interested to read that story.

If that still doesn't work for you, send me a PM and I'll print the article to PDF and email it to you. It's a depressing read, but good to hear the guy's all right. I do agree with others here and wish it was a stronger slap to the NJ Port Authority than just 3 mil... that's probably just tiddly winks to them.
