Picked up a new tool from one of our new brothers on the forum. SA 1911-A1 Custom loaded, black stainless. To the range Monday as soon as I returned home w/ it. A fun & profitable 4.5 hr.
Carry comparison: Have carried a Kimber Compac CDP for nearly 5 yr. Got this for primary carry to replace it. Hands are getting old & target recover time is increasing w/ the light frame. Also just wanted the full size. Weight was noticable at first holstering. Not excessive. Most of you know I wear suspenders. Helps a lot on weight & also on not having a tight belt. IWB, Kydex, 3:30 carry. Sitting & driving no significant difference in feel. Definately not uncomfortable. 8 hrs. Monday. About 5 now today. Have been driving, sitting here, working outside in the garage some. Weight is now noticable only when I think about it. Draw was different but became accustomed to the added inch rather quickly. Really like the extra pad on the beavertail. Thumb safety is really REALLY stiff. That is going to take some work. Trigger had a little slack but crisp after taken up. Broke at just about 5 lb. Very slightly more than Kim.I miss the checkering on front strap. Should get used to that. Grip is narrower by 1/8", a little longer front to back. Night sights are bright.
Shooting report.
Ammo: WWB, Rem UMC green, CCI Brass, reloads. Digested everything factory I fed it w/o a bobble. Only 3 hiccups w/ reloads & they were with some "last timers". Failed to return to battery. Tap on the back of slide & bang, clean eject. Good to shoot. I like the longer sight radius. Total of 300 rounds.
PD ammo. Remington Golden Saber 230, Hornady XTP 200, Fed. HS 230.
Digested all w/ no incident. Never a FTE or FTF. Full battery every time. No jams.
Accuracy report. OK still haven't learned to do pics. As soon as I do I will edit again & show pics. Man I want to show it. Just can't yet.
Rem GS & Fed. HS were a toss up on accuracy. Hornady offered a good round uniform circle that kept increasing w/ distance. At 15 & 25 yds I never touched the Red Xring.
3 yd. 2 hand, point of aim hold, 10 shots, both Rem GS & Fed HS left one ragged hole.
7 yds. Rem GS, seated cushion rest, coarse 6:00 hold, 10 shots. Pattern slightly right of center w/ arc from 2:00 to 6:30. Widest spread outside to outside 1 5/8".
7 yds. Fed HS, same set up & hold. Pattern slightly looser & a little higher. Still just right of center. Outside to outside 1 7/8" Both these ammos & the gun will outshoot this shooter.
15 yd GS. Cushion rest, coarse 6:00 hold, 10 shots. Oval pattern printing just above center. 6 up & 4 down. Deminsions outside to outside. Windage 2 1/8, Elevation 3 1/2.
15 yd HS. Same set up & round count. More circular pattern printing just above center w/ 2 flyers in the middle. both right & about 4 & 4 1/2" out. I stopped to gather head up again then continued. Circle uniform w/ 3 1/8 diameter.
25 yds same set up. 5 shots each ammo. Man it is a lot further than 10 yds from 15 to 25. Both went to about 5.5 circle. I really believe trigger time will take care of some of that. I plan to fix it too. Pics as soon as I learn. With the new one I want to show it. It will happen as soon as the wife finishes her project & I talk dp into coming over for instruction. Hint. ;-) Please. Reason for so many edits see 2nd post after dws. Took several tries here. Wife is going to call them as soon as she get back to work.

Longtooth, I'm glad it is working out well for you. I forgot to mention that, being used to Beretta's and "drilling the dots", I had the sight pulled up pretty high. You may have figured out that out and adjusted the adjustable site. Just tweak in with a screw driver.

 I did pick up a Beretta PX4 today, but it'll be a few days before i can make it to the range. I really enjoyed meeting you yesterday and maybe i'll make it out to the PSC forum day in September. Hope you don't mind my chiming in on the thread, had not considered that it would show who you purchased the SA from.

John, no problem w/ telling. Several have said they just bought a ______from___ & there would be back & forth dialog. If one party wants a private deal in this family they need to specify on this forum. ;-)
