Outdoor Channel last night

Anyone see the shows on Outdoor Channel last night? Pretty good ones........

Anyway, there was an advertisement by Ruger about a new Six Shot Ruger SP101 chambered in the new Federal .327 Mag Cartridge. They said something like 20% less recoil than the .357 and of course higher velocity than the .38 Special. So, anyone have any thoughts on this?

I'm wondering how it compares to a .38 Special +P. Specifically, should I get rid of my .38 Specials (one or both) for this new round? I got rid of my Ruger Sp101 .357 because I did not want to shoot .357 out of a snub anymore after I hurt my wrist (another story). I did however love the gun, but it was a bit heavy for ankle rig wear.

Currently have a Taurus 85 lightweight hammerless and a Smith 36. Both very lightweight even with the smith being all steel, it carries well in the ankle rig.

Well......it appears that this gun/cartridge is not as new as I thought.......

Here is some info I found on it from Nov 2007:

The new .327 Federal Magnum offers muzzle energy twice that of .38 Special +P loads, and velocities comparable to a 125-grain .357 Magnum, with 20 percent less recoil in its hottest version. Designed specifically for use in lightweight small-frame revolvers, the .327 Federal Magnum allows a six-round cylinder compared to five-round capacity for similar-sized .38 Special and .357 Magnum guns, with the added benefit of chambering .32 S&W, .32 Special, and .32 H&R Magnum loads as well.

Could be an interesting little gun/round.......

Thoughts? :headscratch

It's the microphone compression due to the sharp volume increases. drives me bonkers. good condensor mic would take care of that... :grumble
ah, well. least it's on.
