Was at the Fort Worth gun show this, making my usual scan of guns in AJC's tables, when two guys walk up and start looking at a Barret 50BMG gun they have on display. 99.999% of the time I've seen anyone even pay attention to a 50BMG gun, is when they've never seen one and are amazed at the size of them and want to look more. So while the two guys were talking about the 50 cal, I think nothing of it. The out of no where I hear a "I'll take it". At that point it sounded like the place went silent. The price on that gun was $9250 dollars. Add in $763 in taxes and you have a $10,013 gun !

So fess up. Who told their wife they were going out to get some bread, and made a quick stop off at the gun show on the way, and managed to drop $10K ?

Nah, I bought the Model 99 (single shot Barrett .50BMG). After bringing it to my friend's house for (ahem) photo ops, I came home and left it on the kitchen counter for my lovely bride to see. It has been about 3 months I think since then and the dust is just starting to clear. Still happily married.

For the life of me, I cannot find any info on a Gun Show at Ft. Worth today or tomorrow. What show is it and where in Ft. Worth?

Bachman Pawn and Gun has a the Barrett .50BMGs on the wall. Every once in a while I'll go in and the last one I saw has been replaced by another one. What I find comical is the CQB version with the shorter barrel.

Okay, so no one fesses up. I guess the next question I have is ..... What do you do with a $10K 50BMG ? No range around the DFW area will let you shoot one (that I'm aware of). It is illegal to use them to hunt in Texas. What else is your options?

Tac Pro Shooting Center will, and they're only an hour west of Ft. Worth.

I was unaware that it is illegal to hunt with one in Texas. Is my .50 blackpowder also illegal?
