Bag on yer Gun

I believe (and since no one here has seen any of this happen, we are all speculating) that the first shot would blow apart the bag near the muzzle, and I believe the slide (whilst recoiling) would tear the bag near the back end of its travel along the frame. I doubt, though I'm not convinced either way, that the ejection port would be blocked in such a manner that would cause a malfunction. Although, I do figure that the expelled casing would be collected in the bag, which now has (at least) two holes in it.
after that first shot, moot point. I don't think the bag would melt to the barrel, though, it could happen. I don't believe it would be that hard to clean off, but I don't think I'd be too concerned, one way or the other. wait till yer next range trip (you know, if/when the cops ever decide to give you your gun back, following a S/D shooting), and when the barrel heats up enough again to melt plastic, you could prolly just scrape it off with ye ol' fingernail.

as an aside, I've seen on episodes of The First 48 where a Gangsta had a WalMart type bag around his Gliz-ock to catch the brass. no, not cause he was a reloader, so as to not leave any evidence for the "Fuzz." He had fired several rounds from inside his car, IIRC, before being summarily shot down, "In a Blaze of Glory," (cue Bon Jovi) and thusly his role in that particular episode of The 1st 48.

BTW, poly & SS guns may negate the need for such extreme caution as a ziploc bag. Of course when I am at an amusement park like this, I make every effort to stay dry. Canoeing is a different story. Canoeing may be a great chance to carry a Hi-Point .45, then throw it away when you're done if it's rusted :)
