Flying into Baltimore

I am flying into Baltimore Tuesday. From there I will rent a car and drive to State College, PA. I know I cannot carry in Maryland. My question is, when I return to the Baltimore Airport, will I have any problems declaring my firearm? I will put my gun in a locked case, in my luggage prior to crossing the border into Maryland.
