Have you guys noticed places with conflicting signs? I'm sure this has probably been discussed before.

The Taco Cabana on Westheimer and Hwy 6 in Houston has two signs posted inside the restaurant. They have the "unlicensed possession" sign and a minature 30.06 sign posted together in a glass memo display by the bathroom. There are no signs on the points of entry.

Seen that a time or two. I usually go on the assumption that the improper 30.06 sign is superceded by the "unlicensed possession" sign.

If Taco Cabana or any other business does not post a 30-06 sign according to the law (ie 1 inch letters etc) it is not a valid sign. Grab yourself a taco and carry on.

Thanks for the link.. Since it wasn't at the points of entry and in proper format, I ignored it.

Over the last couple of years that the Taco Cabana issue has been bantered around...

I have noticed that they are consistently "wrong" in the posting of this "sign"...

Its never where it should be, and the size is never proper to begin with either...

My thought is that it is a corporate (that has been generally established) policy, that the managament of each facility is instructed to post this sign, yet, the method of display, and resourses are not available to those managers, who basically give this a minutes attention, and then they get on with something else...

Besides, my thoughts are that the intent is there, so therefore I choose not to patronize those businesses anymore...The quality of the food used to be fairly good, but it has been going downhill ever since...

A mom and pop taco joint, to me, is a much better place to go to anyway...

You may be onto something. Clint Smith had a Thunder Ranch student go to the bathroom, prepare for a #2 and on the way down his 1911 fell into the toilet and cracked the bowl. The water emptied and the laughing started -- though not by Clint.

I wonder if they'd consider making some small (or large if need be) shelf in the stall...Just something to make available for those in similar predicaments...

Just an idea...

It seems like forgetting one's handgun after a ride on the porcelain pony is not all that uncommon, so maybe carry in the head should be banned. Sarcasm off. Where to store the defensive equipt during said ride can be problematic. Unless it's small enough to stay in the pocket, perhaps laying it in the cradle formed by one's trousers is the placement of choice. At least it's hard to leave behind.

Those are not actually conflicting signs. The "Unlicensed possession" sign is required for a place that serves alcohol for either off-premise consumption, or for on-premise comsumption if the alchol sales equals 50% or less of their income.

A non-CHL holder that carries a handgun into a Taco Cabana that serves any amount of alcohol is committing a felony.

By posting a 30.06 sign they hope to keep the CHL holder from carrying too.

or hang it by the trigger guard on the mandatory hat hook.

Not sure if I would that at all....but i guess it could work...though not sure if safetly.

I leave mine in my belt holster and re-buckle my belt (around my knees) as I sit down. Keeps it in a good position if I ever need to draw while sitting - but not so good if I need to run.

Another plus for the shoulder holster.
