Hey everyone, I have a question about the application process.

I took my CHL class and did the range qualification late last year, but due to several reasons haven't gotten around to sending in the application (stupid I know).

I still have all the docs that we completed in the class, but I've actually moved since I took the class so the information is no longer current. Could I just apply online, have the state send me the forms, attach my course completion and qualification forms and send it in?

Basically, I need to know how long I have after taking the CHL class to send in my applications.

Your TR-100 is good for two years on your initial license. On renewals, you must submit your application within within six months of taking the course. Some people erroneously believe you must take the course within six months of expiration of your current CHL, but that's incorrect.

Just to make sure I'm understanding you correctly, I should be able to send in my application, I'll just have to renew two years from when I took the course, not when I receive my license.

So I should go ahead and apply?

Answer to first question (in this post) is "No". The renewal clock starts on the issue date of your certificate, not the date of the class.

Answer to second question is "Yes". Send that application in. Do not delay any longer.
