I'm about to acquire a 5" Rock Island Armory 1911. My question is this: when is comes to holsters, are all 1911's the same? Will a holster that fits a 5" Kimber 1911 also fit my 5" RIA 1911? I'm asking because a few of the websites that I buy holsters from ask for the type of gun, then give available holsters. At least one of these sites doesn't list Rock Island Armory firearms. I'm wondering if I could purchase a holster made for a different 1911 model and have it fit my gun? Thanks for the input.

I have a RIA 5" 1911 and am using a Don Hume OWB for a full size 1911 (I think it's labeled for a Colt gov't model). You should find plenty of choices that will work.

For the most part, the answer is "Yes." There are some exceptions. The shape of the slide on the Sig GSR 1911s is different enough from the slides of other manufacturers that a holster that will fit an RIA/Kimber/Colt/Springfield/Taurus/Etc. 1911 will not work for a Sig 1911 in
some cases.
Also, if the frame has an integral accessory rail, the rail shape can vary between manufacturers.

Thanks a lot for the input. I kind of figured as much, but thought it couldn't hurt to ask.
