New Ruger GP100 - now w/ pics

I just picked up a NIB Ruger GP100 Stainless over the weekend. :hurry: I will try to get some pics up soon. I've been doing some reading on the 'net about the GP's and what can be done with the trigger. I'm not going to do anything any time soon, to give it time to break in, but I've seen a couple of 'sites that advocate either an 8- or 10- pound trigger spring and either a 10- or 12- pound main spring. I would just like to know what the weight is of the original factory springs for the GP100.

Best way to improve the trigger on that GP100 is to go fire a Smith J frame.

wasn't the GP100 the replacement for the original Speed Six, and the SP101 the replacement for the Security Six? All of them built like tanks. I miss my Security Six!

Mine is the 4", not the 3", but otherwise the same revolver. I like the look of the holster you have yours in. Can you tell me who made it/where you got it, please? I picked up a nylon range holster for my GP, but I need to look for a holster to give me the option to carry it.

Now for the Pictures

Just a standard GP100. I haven't done a thing to her, yet. I wish they still came with the Rosewood insert grips, though I like the Hogues, too. Apparently the company that used to make the grips for the GP100's and SP101's went out of business, so now Hogues are the factory grips. Funny part is, they don't quite fit into the factory case right.

Reveresed, the GP100 has adjustable sights like the Security-Six did, and the SP101 has a sight groove like the Speed-Six.

My Gp-100 is the cheapest gun (as far as price) and one of my most accurate guns that I own.

Good luck with yours, it will serve you well.

Thanks KeithB

Either way, the Rugers are all built about as solid as a Revolver can be. I will get another!
