I've been mostly absent from this board for the past few months due to the demands of work. I hope to be more involved again. I thought I'd start off with a photo of my newest gun purchase - A 9mm Taurus 24/7 Pro Compact. I just got it yesterday and have not shot it yet. I hope to do that this weekend.

I have been well pleased with a second generation Taurus 9mm Millenium Pro. Your 24/7 doesn't appear much different on the outside. Biggest problem with the MilPro, it's not rated for 124 grain ammo over 1225 fps, or 413 ft-lbs me, so I couldn't shoot the long venerated 115 grain 9BPLE Illinois State Police load at 1300 fps. It eats any ammo and never fails to fire and eject. After about 500 rounds the true DOA trigger had improved to the point the gun became very shootable. It may not be Glock Perfection, but it's close. I find it curious that Taurus is equipping it's guns with DA/SA triggers when the rest of the world seems to be going in the other direction. A great gun out in front of a j-frame bug. People knock the Taurus semi autos, but they seem to have a good track record over at taurusarmed.net. Good guns for the money for an SD piece as far as I'm concerned. Zilch for resale value if you can catch a good used one. I suspect Taurus semi autos are commonplace with South American police forces.

Be sure to clean and lube it...BEFORE shooting it.

I compared the 24/7 Pro C to the Millienium Pro - the 24/7 had a much better feel in my hand and comes with a 13 round mag and a 17 round mag. The Mil Pro only has a 12 round mag. The overall size difference between the two was negligable and the price was the same.

According the the manual that came with it. Taurus has both a DAO model and the SA/DA that I purchased. The DAO model is referred to as the PT24/7 - 9; and the SA/DA is referred to as the PT24/7-9 Pro.

Flintknapper - I appreciate the input; I cleaned and lubed it the first night. I wonder how many don't know they should do that?

I'm hoping to get to Targetmaster later today to run a few rounds through it. (I had just bought 500 rounds on sale last weekend at Academy.)

Apparently, this model is so new that there aren't any holsters out there - at least that I have been able to find on the Internet. Highnoon says they are waiting on the casting so they can start production. I was wanting a Hidden Ally; they suggested that I try one made for a Sig 229, but that it would be about 1/2 longer than the gun. I have a DeSantis holster for my M & P that it fits about the same way. Anyone have any other suggestions or recommendations?

Just got back from Targetmaster in Garland where I ran 150 rounds through the new Taurus 24/7 Pro Compact without any problems at all. I found that I like the trigger feel better than I thought I would. The rubberized grips are very comfortable and the gun shoots well - although I found that several months without any range time has diminished my accuracy. At the risk of sounding like a rookie - I can't recall ever shooting a gun with Heinie sights - so I was puzzled at exactly how to sight in my target. I'd appreciate some pointers there. I also noticed that I was shooting to the left side of the target. Is this me or do the sights need some adjustment?

On the down side, I found that my semi-arthritic thumbs just couldn't quite get that 17th round in the 17 round mag, while I had no problem with the 13th round in the 13 round mag.

Overall, I'm pleased with the purchase.

On a side note, I've never seen Targetmaster so busy.....I had to wait about 30 minutes to get a spot on the range,
