Someone in the know told me that Academy was going to have an AR Bushmaster sale for $599 for Black Monday, but then decided not to :(

I'll keep my ears open, but does anyone know of any great deals coming up?

Black Friday scenarios, 2008:

Big-brick department store: "Please! Come buy something! We'll sell anything we have at 5% over actual cost, and almost give away hook and teaser products at 10% below cost! Please! This holiday season could kill us if we don't move merchandise and get the cash flow. We'll stay open 24 hours Friday through Saturday! Free donuts and coffee! We'll assign you a personal shopping assistant when you come into the store to take you right to whatever you want and even carry your purchases while you shop! We'll wash your car for free while you're in the store! Please!"

Gun store: "Jim, I really wish I could help you. I'll do everything I can to locate a <pick any in-demand firearm> for you, but I can tell you it's not likely to be available anytime in the near future. Guns are being bought up faster than we can get them. But if you want any handgun or rifle that I do have left in stock in the store, since you've been a good customer over the years I'll only mark it up 10% over MSRP. The going price is at least 30% over MSRP. I don't have any spare magazines or ammo to sell along with it, but I'll throw in 5 free cotton patches for your cleaning kit."



I wasn't shooting as much in '92 when Clinton was first elected, and even less in '76 with Carter's election. But I personally can't remember sales of firearms at this pace immediately following the election of any president...much less in the middle of a recession.

Now if only everyone who's buying up all the guns I'm trying to find will get active in supporting their Second Amendment rights and make sure their voices are heard by their representatives...
