If Open Carry Passes Now What Changes Do You Make?

The debate is long on this topic, but for the sake of this thread lets say open carry passes in some form or another. Now what do you do? Do you begin to open carry? If so how does your current carry set up change? Different gun, holster, ammo, than your concealed carry? Would your friends perceptions of you change if they know you carry? I am sure there are many other questions I have not even begun to think of. I always enjoy reading and learning from all of you here. Thanks for sharing. I guess I'll go first.

I'm not sure if I would open carry at all. If I did it would be very limited I think. I suppose my current gun an XD45C would be fine, but I would need a different holster than the two I use now. I'm sure I would need one with some type of retention strap or release, wouldn't I? Would I always be wary of who's behind me, or scared of some one attempting to take my gun? Man I really don't know what the heck I would do. I suppose I would feel a bit nervous, just like I did when I began to carry concealed. Would open carry be more trouble than it's worth? I'm more confused now than when I began writing this. I will definitely try to read and learn from you more experienced members here.

I would not open carry. I think Iratollah summed it up rather succinctly in another thread and, in her own words, Mrs. Oldgringo agreed with him. :smilelol5: Codpiece indeed! "rlol"

I have already purchased and received my OC "BBQ Rig" and Wilson Combat Protector. :thumbs2:
Just waiting now for it to pass, either this session or the next session........ :cheers2:

Yes, I am an optimist, especially when it comes to the 2nd..........being pessimistic will get you nowhere. :coolgleamA:

When I lived in my house I often carried openly from inside my home to my car. I am currently living in an apartment and am forced to hide my car gun while walk to my car. I expect to be in my home long before Sept. 1st so I suspect the law won't actually effect any changes on me.

If OC passes I will be shocked. I do not think that I will open carry, but who knows. There may be times when I do.

I really do not expect it to pass at all. If it does, I will still Conceal Carry....

If OC should ever come to pass, I would still carry concealed.

I prefer the stealth factor in my favor.

If open carry passes in Texas, keep your concealed carry holsters around if you ever want to visit a national park.

I thought of one furthet way I might modify my habits. I now have 2 distict methods of carry, on my person and in my car. I would probably not not be as fastidious about keeping my car gun covered up. I wouldn't need that piece of paper that covers my gun while it sits in my open dashboard console

I don't think so Liberty.........

The gun in your car is a different law altogether than CHL or OC.

so....if it passes, will we all be at the mercy of the DPS for the months/years it will take to change our plastic from "Concealed Handgun License" to "Pistol Permit" or some such other moniker???? Or, would we all have to stand in line for the new "Pistol Permit" class and start the license process over? Ya gotta wonder.

And, for what it's worth, I too would probably "unconceal" occassionally in places like resturants when it would be more comfortable to remove the jacket, or not have the cover garment at all. I would still most likely continue to carry IWB in any situation where I would be in a group of strangers, and probably conceal most of the time. I grew up believing that a grown man should keep his pants pulled up, and his shirt tail tucked in, especially when in public. I would never have believed that in my mid 50's I would be running around in public wearing a "t" shirt for my "main" shirt, with a loose fitting Magellan or Columbia button up shirt for a cover shirt in the 100 degree summer weather.... with the shirt tail hanging out.

I still have very mixed feelings on the whole subject.

Well, since my most comfortable holsters are IWB, I'd just have to start wearing a belt and holster without pants.

You'd probably never get a second look in San Francisco, but in Texas....I'd probably stick with the pants. :eek6

I would still conceal most of the time but it would make things easier.

I wouldn't worry about a cover garment on the way to the range. I would worry less about being spotted when I have to disarm to enter a prohibited place. I would open carry when hiking or riding horses when it's warm. I would open carry when I know iratollah is around.
