Can anyone declare whether or not these names all refer to the same identical round? Thanks!

All the same.
I believe that 9x18 is the Makarov round and 9x17 = .380
There is also the 9mm Largo (read 9mm mag).

Yes; Wikipedia is your friend:
9x19mm Parabellum is the "official" name for the cartridge simply known as 9mm in the States. it is also 9mm Luger, 9mm Para, 9x19mm NATO, and 9x19.
9x17mm is known as .380ACP in the States, but it is the "9mm" of the UK and Western Europe, also called 9mm Short and 9mm Browning.
9x18mm is a Russian counterpart to the 9x17, commonly known as 9mm Makarov, also 9mm Soviet.
Those are the three most common 9mm autoloader rounds, though there are others, including a 9x23mm round officially known as 9mm Bergman-Bayard, but more commonly known by its Spanish label 9mm Largo. Have a look at
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/9_mm_caliber for a list of other notable 9mm cartridges.

Hey Sodbuster,
Sorry to be off topic here but it looks like your original question was already answered. I don't suppose your screen name gets its influence from the wonderful sodbuster style of knives, does it???
