The Bush administration has officially lifted a 25-year ban on licensed possession of loaded concealed weapons in national parks and wildlife refuges – and the new rule is set to be published in the Federal Register Wednesday.
The U.S. Department of the Interior
issued a Dec. 5 statement announcing it has updated its regulations to allow individuals with concealed weapons permits to carry their loaded guns into parks if allowed to do so under their state law.
"America was founded on the idea that the federal and state governments work together to serve the public and preserve our natural resources," said Assistant Secretary of the Interior for Fish and Wildlife and Parks Lyle Laverty. "The Department’s final regulation respects this tradition by allowing individuals to carry concealed firearms in federal park units and refuges to the extent that they could lawfully do so under state law.

Good to see you back, Ms. Kitty.
This only applies in NP's located in/next to/around state parks in states that allow concealed carry in its parks - I think.
Thanks for sharing.

Brady organization sues to rescind national park rule change

The Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence sued the Bush administration Tuesday in hopes of stopping a new policy that would allow people to carry concealed, loaded guns in most national parks and wildlife refuges.
The lawsuit said members of the Brady Campaign will no longer visit national parks and refuges "out of fear for their personal safety from those who will now be permitted to carry loaded and concealed weapons in such areas."

Note that the administration had nothing to do with the rule change. It was initiated by a U.S. Senate petition, and carried out through normal legal channels.
This seems like a weak legal theory. I don't think I can claim that the government is violating my rights by allowing other people to do something. I mean, a boater might run over me while I'm swimming, so boats should be banned.

I don't have a problem with members of the Brady Campaign not uglying up the National Parks. In fact, I think Sarah Brady shoudn't come out from under her rock during the daylight hours.

Will they move to Zimbabwe when they realize American citizens are "permitted to carry loaded and concealed weapons in" most of the USA?
I'll give each of them a Billion dollars if they move there permanently.

I am confused why they mention that they are allowing LOADED firearms several times. Is it that you could carry an unloaded gun before, or are they fear-mongering?

You could carry under the Firearm Owner Protection Act, which meant unloaded, cased, and out of reach.
Plus,
loaded is a loaded term.

I think the Brady Campaign bunch needs to get a life...So, the only ones they want to carry in the National Parks are the bad guys who don't have the CHL, which has been the case all along. I guess that Brady bullet did more damage than I thought. Blew all the common sense away...

these brady campaing jokers amaze me. call me simple minded but i just cant see how they can believe that just because there is a no gun sign or law that criminals will obey it...breaking such laws is what made them criminals anyway.

The law sounds confusing. For example, if I go to Yellow Stone, can I legally carry?

The States that Yellowstone is in (Wyomining, Montana and Idaho) recognizes the Texas CHL.
Sometime this January it will become legal to carry into national parks. I forget the date.
It will still be illegal to carry into the the ranger stations or most buildings, manned by federal employees.
I am not sure about restaurants, inns or other buildings,

I looked around and couldn't find anything. That's the deal, see...they can't stand the light of discussion, they only want to pump out their stupid propaganda.
For instance, they have a "protest against illegal guns." Uh... WHAT? Who are they protesting AT? Are the picketing the homes of criminals or something? I somehow think not.
