CHL with New Address

I moved recently. Filled out the online change of address form for my CHL and drivers license on the same day. DL came 12 days later, CHL on the following day. So, I guess the processing of the actual license is pretty fast. It was a nice surprise after waiting so long for my original CHL back ground check.

Just thought this might be useful information for others.

Where does it say I need to return the old address CHL? Just reviewed the law and I don't see it.

Thanks for your help.

I stand corrected, looks like only if it is modified from NSA to SA

Sec. 411.184. MODIFICATION. (a) To modify a license to allow a license holder to carry a handgun of a different category than the license indicates, the license holder must:

(d) On receipt of a modified license, the license holder shall return the previously issued license to the department.

I checked on this recently -- per email from Mr. Montoya at the DPS CHL section, if you have two un-expired CH licenses, you are supposed to return the superseded one. I asked for the statute or regulation cite, but he didn't put that in his answer.

I posted this email a couple days ago in this thread:

UPDATE!!

I just had brainstorm and went over to check the Texas Administrative Code -- and lo and behold, found this:
Texas Administrative Code

TITLE 37 PUBLIC SAFETY AND CORRECTIONS
PART 1 TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY
CHAPTER 6 LICENSE TO CARRY HANDGUNS
SUBCHAPTER B ELIGIBILITY AND APPLICATION PROCEDURES
RULE §6.14 Duplicate License

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A license holder may not possess more than one license to carry a concealed handgun issued by the department. A license holder who requests a duplicate license based on a change of name or address shall destroy the old license promptly upon receipt of the duplicate license.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Source Note: The provisions of this §6.14 adopted to be effective August 10, 2008, 33 TexReg 6148
