After a long day at the range you relax by visiting the chiropractor.
A comrade has several actually. An old school genuine article and a Finnish one.

Now you have me interested in the darn thing. How cheap is it to buy? Feed ammo? How accurate?

The Russians are cheap because there was (and still is) a glut of them after WWII. Other country variants range, but they all seem to be more expensive. A Russian 91/30 will range from $60-90 depending on a few things, while a Finnish M39 (more accurate) will run around $250-300 from what I have seen.

Most of the ammo is surplus and all the surplus I have found is corrosive. Kind of the nature of the beast with how long this rifle has been in service. Anyway, 880 rounds is a full case and that will run anywhere from $150-200.

Accuracy I can't speak for personally because I have never shot, but it seems to depend on country of origin and time built. For example, during the height of WWII I don't expect to get as good a fit and finish as I would pre or post war because they couldn't pump the things out fast enough. From just what I have seen, you can expect a 4-6" group at 100 yards.

Of course, if there are some Mosin owners out there that would like to comment, I am sure first hand experience is better than my armchair warrior opinion! If this stupid check would clear, I would already have it ordered! Anyway you cut it though, they seem to be a great rifle in many respects, ammo is cheap for such a powerful rifle cartridge, and just look fun to shoot! I can't wait! The dark side is fun.... :fire

The problem with Mosin Nagants is the every single one of them I've ever seen has the bolt on the wrong side!

Now here is a proper bolt rifle  :

Of course, the buy-in is a little bit more than $90.00 . . . .

I got 2 Hex 91/30 and a Finn M39. I've tried out the Finn and one of the 91/30. I just put a scope on the Finn and still in the process of sighting it in. Currently I've got it sighted in at 50 yards and all the shots are within 2 inches and about 2 inches high. I'm sure when I move to 100 yards it will center a bit more.

The 91/30 is pretty good with iron sights. I'm able to group about 2 inches or so at 50 yards. I haven't tried it at 100 yards yet.

I'm hoping to get some more range time in soon to get both sighted in at 100 yards.

BTW, I'm shooting 4 different types of surplus ammo so accuracy varies. I'm sure accuracy will improve if I reload, but right now surplus ammo is cheap and plentiful.

If anyone wants a Hex 91/30 let me know

I took mine out, shot like a champ...no dreaded "sticky bolt" on my rifles!

P.S. I am going to be putting me on a sissy pad very soon!

40 rounds with a steel buttplate and 3 days later my shoulder is still sore!

That is funny!!

I solved the problem, I have all three, the AR for serious stuff, the AK for fun, and the 91/30 because it was cheap.

They all have triggers therefore they are enjoyable.

Just could not resist the jab!!

I just got the Mosin and have not even had a chance to shoot it. Also, I did not know that there were after market triggers for this rifle.
