Carrying in multi-purpose Government buildings

I was browsing through the forums and came across this statement this morning:
I do have one small thing to correct, but it has no bearing on whether you did right or wrong. Jails are not statutorily off limits to CHL holders. Prisons are, but not jails. And Police Stations, if they are to disarm you, must provide storage, IIRC. Just for future reference, because I think calling was the wiser choice than riding there for time's sake.
It reminded me of a dilemma that I came across when trying to register a vehicle a few weeks ago.

I walked into the Harris County Treasurer office on Cypresswood just north of Stuebner Airline. If you walk in the west end, you are walking by what appears to be Traffic Courts. If you walk in the east end, you walk through a Constable station with some sort of gunbuster sign on it that has no relationship to a 30.06 sign, but makes you really wonder if you know your CHL laws since it is a police station. The Treasurer office is smack-dab in the middle of both of these establishments.

What is the legality of carrying into the Treasurer office under these circumstances?
