I have recently added a Ruger GP100 .357 wheelgun to my carry rotation. I am curious, for those others of you who carry wheelies, how do you carry extra ammunition, if any, please?

Blade Tech single speedloader holder.
It carries 3 bullets on each side of the belt with the body of the speedloader on top.

I carry a speed loader or speed strip in my weakside pocket.

I, as well. Although, i've began rethinking that MO, as most revolver reloads are performed with the right hand, so I've considered carrying the speedloader in that pocket, or something of that nature.

Yes,

You should carry extra ammo IMO. Even if it is just a speed strip put away in a pocket.

I carry 2, 5 round speedloaders in my weakside pocket.

I've picked up a couple of HKS speedloaders for my GP. I couldn't find any speed strips locally, and I'm not going to order them without ordering more stuff, as well. I'm not sure I like the idea of a speedloader "floating" around in my pocket (I have enough junk in there already). Don Hume has a leather speedloader pouch for about $21. Do any of you have any experience with it?

Barres - This may not be the best or fastest way, but this is how I do it. With the gun in my right hand, I pull back on the cylinder latch knob with my right thumb and push open the cylinder with my right middle and index fingers.

I grap the back end of the speedloader with my left thumb, index and middle fingers. I hit the injector rod with my left palm and eject the empties. I slide in the new cartridges and twist the knob of the speedloader with my left thumb and index finger to release the shells. Then close the cylinder with my left thumb and I am back in action.

Simple.

I have never timed myself, but this is how I have done it for years. One more thing to add. I am left-handed, but shoot right handed [don't ask], so I may be more coordinated with my left hand that most right-handed shooters.

Bianchi speed strip in the "change pocket" or whatever you call that little pocket at the top of the right pants pocket on jeans and lots of other pants. Speed loader is just too bulky/shaped wrong for me.

Copperheads are abundant in the area where I work. Not at all uncommon to see 'em in the course of doing things around the range (in unincorporated area) and have time to swap out one round and still have time to pop 'em. (So they are not around later to possibly pop me, someone else or my dog. Lady across the fence had $42,000 hospital bill as a result of copperhead bite to the hand last summer.)

Standard speed strip holds 6 rounds. One complete reload for either carry revolver is 5. For me anyway, a far higher probability of needing that snake load than one more JHP. During hunting season, they are also sometimes handy for stopping wounded dove or quail that want to play "hide and seek" in the bush.

Not my most often carried but really my favorite.
