Im a larger individual.. Im 6'1", and I weigh approx 250. I own a sigpro sp2340 .40 S&W. Ive been looking at a SOB or 4 o'clock carry position, and am interested in my holster options. i would like a IWB holster that allows me to carry 1 extra magazine.. does anyone have any photos or recomendations? I currently do not have my plastic, but I sent off my packet to DPS last week.. meaning I should get my plasitc in early April if things go as I have seen them go... Im not dead set on carrying the Sigpro, I could purchase and carry a smaller framed gun, but Ive seen members carrying and concealing a 1911, so i figured, I could conceal my .40 easily... any suggestions/advice would be greatly appreciated.

Recommend a separate magazine holder. If you have your spare magazine on your holster, getting to it would involve either drastic contortions or swapping hands on your pistol twice.

Concealing a large pistol (or any pistol, for that matter) is as much a function as what you choose to wear as it is your choice of holster. I am 5'10" and overweight. I carried a full-sized 1911 OWB yesterday in a Fobus paddle holster and concealed it just fine, but I had on appropriate clothing to do so which concealed the length of the gun, and not just the bulk. Today I carried a 3" 1911 IWB in a MTAC holster under an untucked collared short sleeved shirt.

You can carry either of your guns if you dress appropriately and pick the right holster.

A friend referred me to the Crossbreed and it looks really nice but I'm not sure how it would print on me.

by all means, please tag along... If anyone else gets good info out of this... I dont know which im excited more about.. getting my plastic... OR.. picking out the perfect holster.

Pretty much any holster will cause your pistol to print if you don't dress appropriately. (Technically, it's your pistol that is printing, not your holster; but your holster may be causing your pistol to print.)

Don't worry so much about the printing. Worry more about whether or not the holster is comfortable enough to wear all day - otherwise, you won't. If it is comfortable and conceals well, that is bonus points. Get used to wearing looser fitting clothing, particularly shirts, and wearing your shirts un-tucked. When you first start carrying, you're going to be convinced that you are printing massively and that everybody can tell you've got a gun on. The truth is, nobody will notice it, and after a while you'll get used to it.

My daily carry is a Kimber Ultra, and I carry it in one of these. I can also carry a full sized Springfield 1911 with it, so it will work just fine with your Pro Carry. The MTAC holsters are extremely comfortable for all day wear, and they conceal the pistol quite well. They are even reasonably priced, their delivery turnaround is faster than most other manufactures, and their customer service is without reproach. And as you buy/acquire other pistols, you can order additional holster bodies ($35 each) which attach to the leather backing that you can swap out in a few minutes. I have three different holster bodies for my MTAC:

• 3" Kimber Stainless Ultra Carry II
• 5" Springfield Loaded
• H&K USP Compact .40

How you dress is as important as the holster. I agree that the MTAC or the CrossBreed holsters are excellent and also my choice of holsters. They certainly are not as attractive to look at as say a Milt Sparks VMII but they are very functional and extremely comfortable. Prior to having my license I hardly ever wore a shirt untucked and that still is tough for me. The main reason I started to look at these holsters was the ability to tuck a shirt in over the holster....It Works!!! I can carry a Glock 19 or Glock23 under a tucked Polo shirt with no problem. I think the biggest part of the printing problem is in the owner's head. If you think your are printing and walk around like you are trying to hide a gun, you probably will appear to others as if you are trying to hide a gun. Find something comfortable, something that hides your gun reasonably well, and wear it with confidence. 99% of the time, my wife and kids can't tell when I have my gun or not.

I haven't been spotted yet. I usually wear an untucked shirt with some kind of print. A friend of mine who knows I carry couldn't tell I had it on.

Ive heard good things about Comp-tac... I thank everyone for their advice and those who will post after... I think I might just break down and buy a Minotaur holster..seeing as they are a local company and Ive heard their customer service is top notch...

My friend just got a MTAC. He's pretty happy with it.

I might give MTAC a try here. The only drawback I see at this time is that MTAC is 12 days behind on shipping their products.

Right2Carry, you forgot to tell him there is a year+ wait if he wants a M-11 from Brigade.
I am in month 11 of waiting, after ordering when they had a 24-26 week wait time.
Your M-11 is nice looking and I'm sure it's a good holster. But I say forget Brigade if
you want something in this lifetime. Leather? Go with Milt Sparks VM II or even a
Tx boy nm-holsters.com.

And one more question that goes in-line with holster choice... Do most of you find that you have to buy pants that are a couple sizes larger than normal for the extra space of the holster/weapon?

I have been expanding in the waistline as of late, and most of my pants fit me tightly as is. I never have to wear a belt. So, if I try and stuff a holster/weapon inside my waist band, I am gonna be in trouble. Seeing that none of my pants fit me, I have a good excuse for going and buying new pants. How much larger than my actual waist size should I buy them? Would 1 or 2 sizes above normal do it?
