Different holsters for the Comp Tac CTAC?

I'm looking to pick up a Comp Tac CTAC for my 1911 but I would like to pick up a spare holster for another pistol.
From Comp Tac's website I noticed the only spare holsters they have are for the MTAC. Is there any other way for me to pick up one for the CTAC?

Thanks

The MTAC has "spare" holsters because it is made in two pieces -- one half is leather inside half of the holster, with the belt attachments connected to it, the other half is a kydex shell that is literally half a holster it just covers the outside of the gun. The CTAC is a complete kydex single-piece shell, with a couple small leather pieces bolted into the shell that connect to the belt attachments -- so really, if you bought a "spare" shell, you would be buying about 85 or 90% of a whole holster set up. The only thing left to get would be the belt attachments, which come "free" as part of buying a whole holster anyway, so might as well buy the whole thing.

Thanks!!

I think I'll switch to the MTAC then.

If you do, and you actually use different spare holster shells with the leather base, put up a post on how well you think it works. I have considered it myself, but overall I think I have more flexibility if I just buy a whole separate holster for whatever the spare gun is. Currently the full MTAC is $80, and an additional shell is $38, or just under half the price of a whole holster setup.

I have two separate MTAC's (one for my G30 and one for 1911). I would recommend the MTAC but if you swap guns regularly then buy two holsters.

I agree, if for no other reason than having to fiddle with dismounting and mounting the Kydex portion, and the fact that you may prefer a different cant or rise with different pistols. I have two Minotaur MTACs, also: one for a compact 1911 and one for an XD(M). I like a little more cant on the XD than on the small 1911. Compared to the cost of a second, complete holster, having to change all that in order to switch back and forth just isn't worth it to me.

That said, for rkl56119's benefit, I also own a CTAC (among bunches of other holsters). I like it just fine, but found the MTAC more comfortable while sacrificing no appreciable speed in presentation. The MTAC became my daily carry.

I would also agree with the MTAC choice. I have been using for over a year now and its have held up very nicly. and very comfortable. See my sig line for a review.

I did see your review, Wildscar, when you first posted it and I bought the MTAC and love it! I have been using it every day since carrying my Colt Officers Model .45. It is truly an outstanding holster. You can not beat the service and the people at Comp Tac they are great to work with.

Thanks for the review!

Yea, I am breaking in a MTAC for my 1911.

From what I have observed so far, the fit and function of the rig exceeds everything I have worn before, but the real benefit is often overlooked....

My MTAC has 3 holster bodies - 3" 1911, 5" 1911, H&K USPc. It works great for all three.
