Self Defense Insurance: NRA or CHLPP or...?

Does anyone here know which of these two provide the best self defense coverage for a CHL holder?
Or, is there an unnamed, better policy out there?
I know only a little about the NRA's self defense coverage and it sounds pretty good, but it only pays AFTER you've been through the ringer, so to speak. You pay your legal defense costs up front, as I understand it.
As I understand it, CHLPP provides better coverage for the up front legal costs and a legal hotline if you're involved in self defense shooting.
However, I've no conclusive knowledge of either being superior overall compared to the other.
Anyone here know?

My only concern, and it might not even be a valid one, is the quality of representation from a "pre-paid" attorney. I guess it would be better than nothing though.

My ignorance of these policies is profound, but as I understand it, you choose your attorney and the policies pay a limited amount towards the legal fees.
As I understand it, the NRA policy pays only after you've proven not guilty. But, again, I have to say "as I understand it" means I'm not certain how it really works. I could be Waaaay off base as to how these policies actually work.
Of course, my introduction of this topic is for all of us to be more fully informed, so...

I thought that the NRA helped with the defense, not just reimbursement, presuming that it was a RKBA-related offense and you appear to have not been in the wrong.

I guess no one knows any details regarding self defense insurance - either NRA or CHLPP?
I certainly don't care to buy such insurance to find it's doesn't apply this way, or that, or the other, etc. if needed.
I've been down a similar road many moons ago when I naively bought a car dealers after market warranty when in my early twenties. While quick to accept my money, they balked when it came to honoring the warranty, as in, "oh no, that's not covered and sorry that isn't either" when the vehicle broke down. Shame on me for not reading the fine print.
I'm going to attempt to get the fine print and if not available before purchase, I won't go any further with this idea.

If I remember correctly, CHLPP covers attorney costs up to the Grand Jury Indictment. After that, you have to get your own attorney, I don't know if you can still use the one provided to you for added cost though.
