A chemistry professor in a large college had some exchange students in the class. One day while the class was in the lab the Professor noticed one young man (exchange student) who kept rubbing his back, and stretching as if his back hurt.

The professor asked the young man what was the matter. The student told him
he had a bullet lodged in his back. He had been shot while fighting communists in his native country who were trying to overthrow his country's government and install a new communist government.

In the midst of his story he looked at the professor and asked a strange question. He asked, 'Do you know how to catch wild pigs?’

The professor thought it was a joke and asked for the punch line. The young man said this was no joke. 'You catch wild pigs by finding a suitable place in the woods and putting corn on the ground. The pigs find it and begin to come everyday to eat the free corn. When they are used to coming every day, you put a fence down one side of the place where they are used to coming. When they get used to the fence, they begin to eat the corn again and you put up another side of the fence. They get used to that and start to eat
again. You continue until you have all four sides of the fence up with a gate in The last side. The pigs, who are used to the free corn, start to come through the gate to eat, you slam the gate on them and catch the whole herd.

Suddenly the wild pigs have lost their freedom. They run around and around inside the fence, but they are caught. Soon they go back to eating the free corn. They are so used to it that they have forgotten how to forage in the woods for themselves, so they accept their captivity.

The young man then told the professor that is exactly what he sees happening to America. The government keeps pushing us toward socialism and keeps spreading the free corn out in the form of programs such as supplemental income, tax credit for unearned income, tobacco subsidies, dairy subsidies, payments not to plant crops (CRP), welfare, medicine,
drugs, etc.. While we continually lose our freedoms just a little at a time.

One should always remember: There is no such thing as a free lunch! Also, a politician will never provide a service for you cheaper than you can do it yourself.

Also, if you see that all of this wonderful government 'help' is a problem confronting the future of democracy in America, you might want to send this on to your friends. If you think the free ride is essential to your way of life then you will probably delete this email, but God help you when the gate slams shut!

Keep your eyes on the newly elected politicians who are about to slam the gate on America .

Most of my adult life I have despised the stock market. I simply hate the idea that we stick our money in funds that are based on the whims of the market.
When a proposal was made to privatize Social Security, I saw it as a way to make fund managers richer, and Social Security recipients poorer. Now I wonder if this whole stock-market crash isn't a means of widening the gap between the Rich and the Poor, and eventually eliminating the middle class.
Though I freely admit to leaning left on this board, I have always had a really strong antipathy towards welfare. Welfare stifles initiative and it stifles the impetus to work. People that are on welfare find themselves beholden to the government. They soon find themselves not only relying on the government but expecting more control in their lives from it.
Many people are applauding BO's regime for cutting through the politics and "getting things done". Getting things done costs money. Lowering our taxes means less money to get those things done. Either way, Right or Left, something has got to give.
Once that gate is shut on the pigs, and no more corn is being thrown in, watch the fun begin.

How else do you save for retirement and make more than inflation if you do not use the stock market?

3 pensions, oil & gas revenues and the Bond Market.

It is so true...but in America we call it free cheese. Listening to our socialist president tonight I was wondering who was going to pay for all the free cheese he was promising. The libtards want to make as many folks as they possibly can dependent upon them. It is a way of exercising control over the masses. You can't get rid of them if you need them.

By the by....now is the time to invest in the market. It is foolish to put your money in a matress and expect it to grow. Buy low...sell high. Right now the markets are at all time lows...buy buy buy... . Use money you don't need for awhile and average in. The market will go back up...in spite of Obama's anti-free market beliefs.

I have no problem with a free-market/capitalism and I hate welfare. I hate the stock market just as much, and I hate being forced to partake in it.

I don't think anyone is forced to invest. The bond market is not exactly a bastion of honor either. Real life...there aren't any ways i can think of to invest where there is not some bigger kahuna manipulating the outcome...and this includes gold as well as oil. Geeze...just look at the damage the crooks in oil investing did to our economy last year. talk about manipulation!!! heck...food is done like this too through the futures markets.

I don't know what kind of pension funds you have that have no money invested in the stock markets, but they must pay real low yields.

They could be government pensions that rely on catching wild pigs like in the OP.

I have heard that story before told differently but the moral of the story is the same. We 'the pigs' can survive on our own we do not need the corn the only reason we go after it in the first place is because it is free. We could go get it ourselves it is in a field somewhere being grown but if we were to do that not everyone will be successful like the 'free market'. Those that are successful will grow strong and can survive on their own and will be able to weed out weaker element of the herd like weeding out weak companies instead of allowing them to drag down the economy or let the herd get caught. The stimulus package is nothing but big sack of corn put out in a dry year to draw us in to the pen sooner rather than later. Once caught the farmer/Dictator has the power to say "you don't need you tusks/guns anymore you are protected in a safe environment". Simplifying everything down to a pig's level really makes you think how stupid some people look in their attempts to control us.

Much like the realization that wild rams have horns and can protect themselves from the wolf. No sheepdogs required.

I prefer the free enterprise system and it's various markets.

If you've had it with all forms of government and commerce you could try living like some in Alaska. Eat moose, raise your own veggies and barter for the rest, while spending most of your time in the wilderness in an powered shack you built yourself and enjoy a wonderful old fashioned out house.

BTW, I was really hoping this topic was catching real wild pigs.
