Utah Permit-Application Question

I took crossfires Utah class in July 2008 and just got around to sending the packet in at the beginning of February. I was wondering if there is a way of tracking the status of it? I went to the web sight for the State of Utah and had little luck finding anything.
Thanks for any help.

There is no reason for you to track it. Unless they reject your application, you will have your license in 60-65 days.

Normally I would agree, but in this case I have yet to see the check go through my bank and am concerned about whether or not they have received my packet. I am hoping it hasn't fallen into the void known as the USPS. Thanks for the quick response though.

Lightening - Utah will cash your check on the day they start processing your application. They do not process applications from non-residents if they have a backlog of resident permits. However, if they have not started processing within 30 days of you mailing your application, it would be a good idea to call and make sure they have received it.
I have only had one report of a lost application from Utah, but things do happen.

That's why some people send it certified mail. You have to be patient with Utah. The Utah
application form even says "Do not call to check the status of your permit. Your application will be receipted once it is received. We have 60 days to process your application."

I submitted my application to Utah on 7/28/2008 and didn't hear anything from them. The check hadn't been cashed so on 8/25 (almost a month later) I emailed them at
dpsfirearms@utah.gov.
They responded by simply saying they received the app on 7/31/2008 and will have it processed by 9/31/2008. Sure enough, on 9/11/2008 my plastic was printed and on 9/19 the plastic was in hand.

Thanks for the response. I will wait another week to see what happens and then do that. I didn't send it certified because I really didn't think about it. I am planning a visit to Ohio next month and was hoping to have it by then. This is what I get for procrastinating. My son dropped his in the mail two days after the class. he has his now.
