In Evansville, Indiana, early Sunday morning, a burglar broke into an occupied residence. The homeowner confronted him with a rifle and shot him. The burglar fled, and accomplices who were waiting in a getaway car ran over him twice. The burglar is in intensive care.

Evansville used to be a respectable, quiet town.

If he tries this again, which they almost all do. He should try to pick better crime partners!

Good job Mr. Homeowner!

Reports like this make me think there must be a God and that he has a sense of humor.

"I think a family man is the most dangerous person because they've got more to lose like I do," Murray said.
Totally agree. I started pursuing a CHL back in 2003, but then abandoned it for a variety of reasons, one of which was I only had myself to worry about. But now that I have a lovely wife and a beautiful daughter, I am exponentially more dangerous to the criminal world.

Totally agree +2, but I'll tell ya who is really dangerous - my wife had never touched a gun before our baby was born, but in the last six months has learned (and become accurate with) a variety of semi-auto pistols, a .357 magnum revolver, and the shotgun that she shared a house with for 4 years but had never touched... I am really regretting the current ammo pricing situation (but happily paying....)

Look at it this way: It's something that you do together, which a lot of married couples lack. And even if you spend $2,000 a year on ammo and range fees, it's still cheaper than golfing every weekend, or owning a boat or motorcycle.

You got it exactly right - I'm enjoying every minute of it. Both our new shared hobby and her better preparation for the real risks in this world. Now if I could just talk her into the boat....

Cheers-
Sid

I think I'm one of the luckiest guys alive. My wife was raised around guns and owns several. It's nothing for her to ask me if we are going shooting on any particular weekend.

We can agree that we are both lucky. The family that shoots together stays together. ;-)

My wife has recently decided to start shooting more. She always enjoyed my .22 pistol but only once or twice a year.

A few weeks ago, she said "It's time for me to get my CHL". So she recruited 2 of her friends to go with her :cheers2:

I ran two of them throught the basics and they passed easily. All three now have their own pistol, joined the NRA and are looking for ammo (she HAD to get a .45 1911 :fire not a little 9mm like mine  )

4 trips to the range in 2 weeks
3 new guns to play with
2 new shooting buddies and
1 wife that is upset because she does not hit the bulls eye every time :

I could not be happier.
