One man was killed and another seriously wounded in a shootout inside a Miami Burger King on Tuesday, officials said.

Police said a man wearing a ski mask walked into the store at Biscayne Boulevard and 54th Street and demanded money from a clerk.

A customer, who has a concealed weapons permit, pulled a gun, said Officer Jeff Giordano, a Miami police spokesman.

The customer and robber exchanged fire.

The robber was shot dead at the scene.

The customer, who had several gunshot wounds, was taken to Ryder Trauma Center in serious but stable condition, said Lt. Ignatius Carroll, a Miami Fire Rescue spokesman.

At about 4 p.m., officials got several 911 calls reporting people shot inside the Burger King.

Seems to me the "armed" customer was in the right place at the right time, and those that benefited from his sacrifice should be forever grateful...Including the Burger King franchise owner and the parent company!

That's one Whopper of a story!!!

guess the guy that was armed turned out to be the King!

guess that robber didn't "get it HIS way!!!"

I'll be here all week.

I think one thing to be gleaned from this is that just cause you engage someone, you may/may not get return fire, you may/may not get hit, and you may/may not get out unscathed! is it worth it to hunker down, or is it worth it to engage? that's your question, and of course, your own personal answer, and one you should make ahead of time.

...you could also add to this to be aware of your situation and improve your tactical situation in the process of the above options to minimize your chance of being hit.

I would be willing to bet that shot placement and consistency on his part determined the outcome though.

thnk about that.. You are with your family having some Wednesday night BK.. All of the sudden some crazy runs in demanding $$$ and holding a gun. It's hard to imagine those kinds of situations.. In the CHL class they tell you to "always be aware" - in all honesty this is the type of situation that would catch you off guard.. (if you were going to be caught off guard)
