Getting my CHL

I am an active duty service member currently stationed outside of Texas. I have a Texas DL and my LES lists Texas as my state of residence. Am I going to have any trouble obtaining my CHL?

I am planning on visiting Texas this summer for about a week and want to complete the CHL process while I am there. I have seen the online registration site and viewed some of the threads here. The whole process seems much more difficult than my current state's process (Georgia). I am not sure really where to begin and what I need to do / accomplish before I make my trip. What things can I do to set myself up for success and minimize time spent on CHL while I am in Texas as the main purpose of my trip will be to visit family?

Can anyone recommend a CHL instructor in the area of Huntsville, TX? Don't mind going as far south as the Woodlands if needed.

Any other tips would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks...

You should have no problems getting your CHL while you are back in Texas.

If you want/can come to College Station (50 miles to the west), I would suggest calling Dave Burdett at his sporting goods store ((979) 695-2807). He holds a CHL class the 3rd weekend of every month (I think). It's where I took my class...

College Station will work as well, but I am not sure I will be there during the 3rd weekend...
