Another great liberal viewpoint for supporting the 2nd

While I realize "drive by postings" can be annoying, I always like to point out when people usually considered opponents "get it"

http://www.opednews.com/articles/2A-All ... 9-216.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Also, my favorite liberal 2nd article, from Daily Kos, which has been posted before.
http://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/4/21/19133/5152" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I think both of these articles are good ones to point liberals to, to understand why they should support the 2nd.
Hearing the truth from sources they trust (i.e. DailyKos, Opednews) can open the gates of openthinking without automatically shutting down the debate.

(Yeah, I'm sure most of you trust Kos as far as you can throw it, but you can see my point at least, right?)

Any logical, well written argument supporting the 2A is alright by me.

Some of those comments (espcially on the second article) are downright scary though.

"The Second Amendment is outdated and needs to be removed. Period."

And silly me, I thought Bush was the one that was destroying our constitutional rights.. "rlol"

One of the footnotes in the first article contains a link to -

The Right to Keep and Bear Arms
REPORT of the SUBCOMMITTEE ON THE CONSTITUTION

Everyone should read it and probably keep a copy for reference.

Go Here-

He helped, but he couldn't have done it without the Democrats letting him.
And I'm sure the Democrats will finish the job.

Yep. THESE are the people that need to be convinced, and where we should be sending "missionaries" out to.
Imagine, if we reached out and got to only 1% of these people, we could double the NRA's membership...

Now that would be an occasion to celebrate, doubling the NRA's membership, that's for sure. You are right, instead of arguing with the hard headed we need to be reaching out to those that are reasonable.
Thanks for the post, that was very interesting. :tiphat:

The ACLU is definitely a liberal organization. They truly believe in the US Constitution, including the Second Amendment. However, their interpretation of the Second Amendment is that it is a collective right, militia right, not an individual right. I disagree and so do tens of millions of others. Besides their interpretation does not count. It is just an opinion.

Contrary to opinion, Democrats had nothing to do with Bush's actions.

Pick your standard Democratic Party rationalization for "Bush Derangement Syndrome" now:

A)Yep, it was an all Republican congress under Bush. "rlol" "rlol" "rlol"

B) Congress didn't pass any legislation during the last 8 years, just listened to King George. "rlol" "rlol" "rlol"

I'm fascinated to see which you believe.

The ACLU would do well to read the Heller decision and some of the amicus briefs for it. Everytime the Constitution or Bill of Rights mentions "the people", it refers to an individual right. EXPECT for the 2A, right? :roll:

I would hardly call them a defender of the Constitution. The First Amendment, maybe. But you're not a defender if you want to essentially remove one of the first 10 amendments.

What a liberal thinks is not important. Just point and laugh at them.

How very open minded of you.

Wow. What a way to win people over.

Don't care to win liberals over.
Don't care if liberals are impressed.
Don't want to be considered "open minded" by some America-hating liberal.

You be you and I'll be me.
