Who says you need a 1911 to feel a bit special?

Well, we're all special, it's just some of us are more special than others.
Nice Sig! I used to dream of owning a Sig p226 when I was a police officer and all they let us carry was wheel guns.

Tried the accuracy yet? Whats the recoil like on that fine piece of art?

Its my understanding the dissassembly is nothing. After needing restraining clips et al for your more traditional 1911s, that sounds like a (expensive) dream to me.

Thanks! I've only had it for 120 minutes and so no I haven't tried it out just yet. I have taken it apart and it is as easy as my HKs. although I am yet to own a 1911 (I have expensive taste when it comes to those and so I'll need to save that pleasure for a few years yet) and so I am rather ignorant of what is involved in stripping one of those.

I was delighted to find this one and then snag it for such a good price. I've been looking for one of these for three months and always managed to miss out on the small amount of ones that did pop up for sale. They seem to be popular, and I am hoping that is for good reason. I found out earlier this week that Sig do still make these (I had thought that they stopped a while back) but they are $900!

Anyway now I just need to find some .40

I have both a USPc and several 1911s. The H&K takes down much more quickly and easily, but taking down a 1911 is not at all difficult, and it was designed to be do-able by soldiers who had minimal firearms training, so it's really not a big deal. However, at least by my personal observation, the greater "complexity" of the 1911 also means a "tighter" pistol which shoots more accurately. And then there's the trigger. . . .the H&K trigger is abysmal compared to even a cheap 1911.

That being said, I carried my USPc yesterday on a drive up to Enid, Oklahoma and back, and I was confident in my weapon and my ability to use it.

I would like to own a Sig P-something in .45 some day so I can see what all the hoopla is about.

I absolutely love 1911's. But, I am also a huge Sig fan - you should invest in a Sig 220 Elite SAO.

Thank you for all of your kind words. I like all of my HKs a lot, although as a relative newbie I appreciate that my opinions are still in an infant stage. Nevertheless I now have four pistols and I am very happy with all of them, and very happy to have something a little different and rather pretty in stainless. As for 1911s I will buy one one day but I have expensive taste and Baers, Wilsons and of course Colts are a little pricy for me right now. I have plenty to be getting on with and find that my shooting is getting better even with these so called 'abysmal' triggers. As my uncle used to say "If you can do well with average tools, you'll be a master with the best" and despite opinions re the HK trigger systems all three of them eat anything, go bang every time, are well built, a breeze to clean and will go on and on and on. To me they aren't average and IMO there is a lot to be said for the 'no drama' that they offer. The ergos of the newer hk45/p30 are excellent and I am becoming plenty accurate with all three of them and as I'm not into bullseye right now a combat trigger is fine for me. Of course I may want a slick willy 3.5lb pull in the future but for now I'll be trying out my new Sig next week and be happy with what I have. Oh and as for ammo Academy at 290/34th had plenty of Monarch 9 and WWB .40 an hour ago when I stopped by. They are allowing three boxes per caliber per customer and with the Monarch at $11 / 50 and the WWB $33 / 100 I am now set for the summer. I just need a little sunshine tomorrow and all will be well in the (my) world

I shoot my sig p220 better than anything else I own. It is a very accurate, great shooting gun. The only reason I do not carry it is because of the mag capacity. I like it much better than any 1911 I have ever shot.

I said "abysmal" because I've been spoiled by an assortment of 1911s, but the truth is that the USP trigger isn't all that bad. It's just not near as good. That being said, you're right on regarding the reliability and simplicity of operation. Mine has never had a FTF, FTE, or misfire. I particularly like that the USP slide can be cycled with the safety on. And it actually conceals very well, despite being taller, wider, and longer than my Kimber Ultra.

That's as purty as a speckled pup. I just picked up a P229R at the Big Town Gun Show a couple of weeks ago. Mine's not nearly as purty. I haven't had a chance to shoot it yet, but I cleaned and oiled it early this week and loved the easy dis-assembly. It's simpler than a 92FS. Much simpler than my Para.
