I Love My New Eotech!

I went to Elm Fork range on Saturday with my son and spent a couple of pleasant hours dialing in my new Eotech 517-A65 on my AR carbine. Well, lets be honest. I spent 15 minutes dialing it in, another 5 minutes getting the iron sights to co-witness, and an hour and 40 minutes blasting the target and chatting up other shooters! It was time well spent.
This is a great sighting system. I know, I know. Some like the Aimpoints better. Others think that ACOGs are the only way to go. That's fine for them. I like this one. Target acquisition is intuitive and swift, and for these aging eyes, it works much better than the iron sights.
Speaking of iron sights. . . this AR has an ER Shaw regular 16" barrel with flash suppressor and the standard A2 front sight. The Eotech reticle POA matches POI, but I've had to crank in almost all of the left windage in the ARMS 40L flip up rear aperture sight to make it co-witness with the Eotech reticle and the front sight.
Anyway, I can recommend the Eotech sight for anyone who is looking for some kind of optical sighting system for a flat-top AR15. Next, I will be purchasing an Eotech 3X magnifier with a flip-to-side mount.
