Back fired ! Could we be wrong ?

I got thinking about all the shortage of ammo, the major jump of gun sells, and the large number of applications for CHL...
1. Could we have all been wrong about our President ?

He is now known as the greatest gun sales man around..
I mean really, look, if you want everyone to own a gun, try reverse psychology

..
They did change there mind about re-instating the Clinton "assault weapons" ban.
2. Do you think, this has all Back-fired on the administration

or do we have some big surprises coming from the administration ?
What is the stats on people who now own guns, as there was say a year ago ? I know that the number of CHL's has climbed to a all time high..
I guess if you have to look at the good side, this administration has done more for gun control then any other time
Whats your thoughts on this ?

Well, if {they} were/are planning on registration and/or confiscation of privately owned firearms, {they} will have to hire a lot more people because there are are a lot more firearms to register/confiscate - that's for sure.

I have jokingly suggested the same thing - that "they" want us all well-armed and have gone about securing this goal by threatening our RKBA. I was joking then and still am - I grew up in C(r)ook County, IL. and have some idea of the mindset.
However, I have to admit that in 1993 I only owned my "Cowboy Action Shooting" guns, a Browning Highpower, and a bolt-action rifle. Bought an AR-15 and Mini-14 in anticipation of a "ban" - eventually sold the Mini-14 (it was not a very accurate rifle) but the AR-15 got me into shooting NRA Highpower Service Rifle. I have to thank the Democrats for that.
The current run on guns and ammunition is the "law of unintended consequences" at work.
BTW do you recall the Canadian effort at registering all long guns? Last I read in the news, there were moves afoot in their legislature to do away with it. Too expensive and too much non-compliance. Not trying to paint a "rosy" outlook, just sayin'...
Regards,
Andrew

I think this is more along the lines of the single law most politicians seem to forget when they get elected.
The law of unintended consequences.
Large democrat majorities in Congress and a proven anti gunner in the white house=more gun buying
They probably didn't even consider that this would happen. But I think it has made them hesitate on enacting any gun laws. They've come to realize enough people might be angered that they would lose the midterm elections, and they have lots on their agenda they want to accomplish still that they need large majorities for.
I'm not going to relax just yet.

With at least one exception (thank Goodness for FOX), there is definitely a media lovefest with the current administration.
It kinda' reminds me of seein' Mary Jo and Jim Bob ridin' down the road in Jim Bob's daddy's pickup and Mary Jo is tryin' to fit under the steering wheel with her swain. Sickenen', ain't it?'

+1, but then again they do not waste a good crisis...
Then again, it may just be a matter of time...
