New Mexico carry rules

My girl and I are going on a little vacation to Santa Fe in two weeks and I just wanted to see if there are any major rules and laws I missed for New Mexico. Any input is greatly appreciated. I have already checked their DPS website.

Places I can't carry and rules
-In any restaurant or establishment that sells liquor for on premises consumption. (51% does not apply there; if they sell it and you can drink it there you can't carry
-The usual court rooms, schools etc.
- On tribal lands
- National and state parks
- Only carry one firearm on my person at a time.

Places I can carry
-Conceal carry in an establishment or business that sells liquor for off premises consumption.
- Any business or residence that doesn’t post or verbally deny entry. (Similar to Texas)

My only other big question is the open carry policy. I found little info. on their website. They need a booklet like us. Can I legally open carry in public in New Mexico even though I have a conceal carry license from Texas or can I only conceal carry in New Mexico?

Personally I would like to keep my gun concealed most of the time. The only expectation would be in my car once I cross the border. I wouldn’t mind keeping my gun in plain view inside my vehicle so I don’t have to keep it on my side or in the glove box the whole time. Also, would that mean that when I stop and get out of the car I wouldn’t have to worry if someone sees me put my gun into my holster when exiting the vehicle?

Any info and input I would appreciate

You cannot open carry into any establishment that sells alcohol, even for off premises. So if you're open carrying and stop for gas, most likely, you will not be able to open carry into the station. You can conceal carry into the establishment though.

That was the law. It isn't the law anymore. You can now carry into the Stop n Rob.

From what I read, it's still illegal to open carry into any establishment that sells alcohol. One can conceal carry into a establishment that sells for off-site consumption.

I should also add, it appears to be illegal to carry, open or concealed, into ANY place that allows on-site consumption, including restaurants.

I don't know what you read or how old that information was.

Q: I have a license to carry a concealed handgun. I'm confused because I see signs that say I can't carry my firearms concealed in grocery stores, convenience stores or other places that sell alcohol. What's the real story on where I can legally carry my firearm?

A: 30-7-3 NMSA 197 was signed into law by Gov. Richardson on 04/02/2007. EFFECTIVE JULY 1st, 2007 any person licensed to carry a concealed handgun in New Mexico, or any other state whose licensees are recognized by New Mexico to legally carry a concealed firearm, will be allowed to carry that firearm - concealed - into licensed liquor establishments that sell alcohol for off premises consumption. You may not carry openly displayed firearms in any licensed liquor establishment. Keep in mind that bars and restaurants that sell beer and wine are still off-limits.

I totally misread your point. I think I'm having problems with the open carry part.
Maybe my brain is attempting to skip it due to over exposure.
Sorry!!
Really ..

I'll be going through NM this summer, and I've been wondering: does NM have a standard sign like TX 30.06, for general businesses? Or do all "no guns" sign carry the same weight?

There is no standard sign such as our 30.06. I think any "no guns" signs mean no guns.

One more: I don't think you can carry in any government building of any kind in NM.

As far as the one gun at a time rule:
In New Mexico, licensees can only carry one concealed handgun at any time. It is legal to carry more than
one firearm. However, only one firearm may be concealed on your person at a time. This restriction does not
apply to firearms carried in your vehicles, on or off your person.
