"Oppose SB 1164. Help keep our students safe by keeping guns off college campuses!"
Most self-contradictory line EVER.

You either Oppose SB1164, or you Help keep students safe by Supporting it. Can't have both.

It's almost like they expect criminals to go "oh! Guns aren't allowed on campus! I'll leave mine at home then!"
Sorry folks, opposing it will not keep all guns off campus, what it will keep off is legally owned and carried guns, by trustworthy, licensed citizens, which are capable of protecting people.

(I know, preaching, choir, et al. This just really 'grinds my gears' that they get away with saying this contradictory junk)

Aw, come on.

Many college students are below the age of 21. They can't possibly be drinking on campus, can they? Or even "binge drinking"? And I am assuming the Brady email refers to use of illegal drugs, not "drug use" like taking a decongestant after you've had a cold. So isn't this also illegal? Certainly college students are not doing illegal things like underage drinking and using illegal drugs, are they? Because if they are, then maybe some of them are also carrying guns on campus.

Or is it only gun laws that are ironclad arbiters of behavior, and no other laws?

Since many of these college students are below the age of 21 then the campus carry bill has no effect on them.

I think this is indicative of a bigger problem...
Introducing guns into a volatile environment where binge drinking and drug use are all too prevalent is a recipe for disaster.
Getting those two issues under control seems to me to be more important than disarming someone like myself who has no intent on binge drinking and using illicite drugs...

They are all idiots...

TEXAS: ANOTHER "GUNS ON CAMPUS" BILL ON THE MOVE
Tell Your State Senator to Oppose "Guns on Campus"
Which means of course that we need to call our reps to support "Guns on Campus". That's on my to-do list for later today. "Guns on campus" sounds inflammatory, of course, which is why it's in the Brady email.

I hope that when my daughter hits 21 she'll be allowed to carry on campus. OTOH, by then she'll have been in college for three years so I probably won't be able to afford to arm her! I guess we'll be going from Beenie Weenies to Ramen Noodles for a few months.

Let's make sure Texas is not the first state to pass legislation to allow guns on campus.

Doesn't Utah currently allow guns on campus with a valid CHL?
