dillon 650 question

Set up for 45acp, has run ok.
Took it apart to clean and lube (per dillon manual), this included removing the shell plate.
Put it back together and now the ram will not go all the way down, looks like there is about an inch of travel left. Ram and shell plate will go all the way up.
Where did I go wrong............

I'd suggest that you take this question to the Dillon website forum section. they have the best customer service and will be able to get you back in operation.

Check the set screw under the plate. If it is not completely screwed in it will not allow the ram to operate correctly. Agree call Dillon if any continued problems.

Loosen the screw holding down the shell plate just a little bit. This solved my problem I have a tendency to try to tighten it down to far.

Had the bolt holding the shellplate too tight.
Thanks.

Bob,

I adjust the shell plate by turning the bolt down until it is finger tight and back off as little as necesary to let the plate turn freely. I test this by cycling the press while I hold the shell plate bolt from turning. Once I'm happy with the shell plate bolt clearance I raise the platform once more while holding the bolt and tighten the set screw. Getting the shell plate bolt set correctly is the key to turning out ammo with consistent OAL.
